Most powerful Books, etc...

In my opinion, William Grey is great. I also liked Laurence Gallian's work and that "Poke" Runyun fellow was not bad. Marabas's short magickal texts are REALLY cool too IMHO.
One thing I like best is when William Grey actually has a practice schedule in order to develope the feeling of the various principles that you'll be working with in Magick. He actually has a practitioner spend time in order to develope understanding of each principle of earth, air, fire, and water, or to develope each kabbalistic principle, etc.
I think the neurological basis for this is sound because the neural pathways in the brain that work together for understanding and feeling of each principle get excercised. Wilhelm Reich said, "Today's Step is Tomorrow's Life." And that's a very magickal principle in itself.
[Infoburst: I agree with you Jon. W.G.Gray's writings were classics of the occult almost from their first printing. He used to visit Marabas and our shop here in the old days and had a very commanding presence. His Magical Ritual Methods and Tree of Evil (one of a handful dealing with the Qlippoth or averse QBL) should be on every initiate's bookshelf. BB Denise W.]

that's rather a large assumption. doubts mean one stuck in a materialistic mode? as far as testing as a lone individual...there's the placebo effect, so I dont think asking about other peoples' experiences might be is some horrible thing.
from what Ive read pheromones can be a complicated thing.
I purchased a welz orgone generator years ago, put an attraction sigil that came with it in front of it and some of my hair and went out on the town. I had some success...however, imagine my surprise when I came home and realized I hadn't plugged the thing in (it's electrically powered).
btw ive purchased some items from the SA by mail order some 12 years ago.
[Denise Replies: You've just proved my point. It wouldn't be a surprise to an initiate that the magic worked whether it was plugged in or not. Doubt is poisonous to magical success - critical questioning is another matter but then why bother when you can just DO the magic - suck it and see? BB DW.]

Hi Denise to your question no i was not saying that.I meant you take what fits your perferance from books, and make them fit you,not you fit the books. Books are important to gather information,so you can make a decision as to which path you wish to take, but its how you feel about the information which is important not the context,if it feels right, then it is right,if it does not feel right it must be wrong for you.I am sorry if i came across as though books are not important, because they for gathing the right information for yourself.I was just saying you can't take all the information from just one book, but many.Blessings Chris

Hi Darkorder. I think it is clear from the scope of your contributions in this forum that your claim not to have been influenced by books is a real one. Denise W.

Hi all,i must say that my veiw is there is no powerful magic books, you can't learn from books, you just take information which suits you.The true book is in you,you are the book, all the information is already in you,you have just got to open it.No book can tell you how to breath, you just do,just look within and you will find.Plus there are no true answers, everyone thinks different so magic must be placed in those differences or it just wont work.Take what you will from different books but don't treat it as fact, look within.

I just ordered this tonight...i admit the prescribed procedure leaves me a little skeptical...it was cheap though so Im not too stressed....has anyone tried and used this with success? If you want to share yr experiences that would be great.
[Denise Replies: Jeez... Not another who finds a belief in magic so primitive that they fear losing their materialistic arrogance. 'Wondering', If you are so unsure of yourself that you can't come to grips with what is, then asking for the 'what is' from other people won't help either. The simple answer is to Suck it and See! How do you think the Sorcerer's Apprentice got to be the longest lasting, largest, most honourable occult store with over 70,000 clients worldwide if our spells didn't work? You are right. You ARE a sceptic and unless you shift your mind from it's dependency on scientific materialism your magic won't work.
Try the Love Attraction Spell on www.sorcerers-apprentice.co.uk/occultls.htm - it's simple but effective. Try it and see. BB Denise W. ]

I'm sorry Patti but you've either not explained yourself properly or you are just not well enough read to suggest that books are dispensible and that all magic 'must come from within'.
Marabas teaches that to draw knowledge from the Anima Mundi on command the operator needs to know structured magical methods wich can only be learned from others. Ideally this should be from a mentor or guru but any teacher worth his salt will have already published his discoveries so a wider audience can benefit from them.
There is
no better way of reprogramming our own minds than by reading of
the discoveries and experience of others on the path.
There are THOUSANDS of essential classic books each of which can change the direction of a person's life utterly - from the Yoga Aphorisms of Patanjali, through Agrippa's Natural Magic, to Lao Tze's Tao Te Ching and the hundreds more, many of which feature in the S.A.'s booklist
(see http://www.sorcerers-apprentice.co.uk/booklist.htm ) These classic books contain gems of magical knowledge which is unsurpassed and unavailable anywhere else. They are indispensible. What is important is that every true seeker realises that trustworthy guidance IS available in printed form if you know where to look.
The real answer to this question is that when the questioner has invested enough insight and time in learning about his Self and the esoteric options which might suit his nature then he will then be able to focus his question in a way which will bring the right answer. He should read books on ALL aspects of occultism until he finds one which intuitively fits. Marabas advises on this in detail in his very valuable primer on occultism for complete beginners which can be read free on the S.A. website

Red Dragon,
Just back from surgery; sorry for the delay in response. Everyone makes mistakes and I hope this board is tolerant of those who do. I really don't mind being criticized or poked fun at, so keep annoying, checking or whatever-if I am a spade today, perhaps a heart tomorrow (lol). And if you are my banana, perhaps you will see that I can have a sense of humor when warranted. ¿
However I would like to say that I do question people who comment anonymously... why hide? Reveal yourself and defend your position! Differences make this world a place I enjoy being in! Perhaps the real reason for hiding is that if people knew who was commenting, someone would be less likely to post unproductive personal attacks???
Pastlifwizard, don't let anyone (even me) give you 100 of your opinion; take what sounds true in your heart...try different things to see what best suits you. Not everyone is going to agree or like the way things are presented, but take the time to sort out useful tips from ego. You will find that the benefit was worth the time.
I wish every Wiccan and Pagan a wonderful New Wheel!
Patti

Whoops, I was tired, re-reading, 'outline' makes a lot of difference, I, stupidly, didn't take that in. Apologies most sincere to you.I actually agree totally. At present, I'm either your annoying banana,
or caring stargazer. That was pure error though, all in orbit.
you're about to be annoyed/checked by the annoying/ caring Red Dragon again: spade is a spade.
(You can get rid of me, "go away" would work.)
