The main point is that there should be a relavent framework. Drugs certainly open the mind but much control can be lost via this, unless ones mind can be anchored to the intended act. Again experience life as you will. Purely subjective but no less valuable but not for everyone. Disclaimer on every level unless it works for u not advicated.

The controversy about drugs is shot-through with the kind of self-righteous humbug which disables any sensible discussion. In this climate any genuine debate stands a good chance of being wildly accused of promoting Drug use and if we want to retain free speech on this forum we should be careful in how it is portrayed. This is a very important subject anthropologically in connection with religious observance and the evolution of medicine.
We have therefore opened up some guidelines for discussion on this or any other thread which concerns drug usage.

There are plenty of forums on legalising drugs etc. The SAEF is for discussion on the ESOTERIC aspects as it applies to shamanistic magic since the dawn of mankind.

Every culture has a history of sacred drug usage. Substances which enabled the priests and priestesses of their religions to atone with their gods. Many of the greatest painters and poets throughout history have taken various substances to heighten their understanding of life and the human condition. Without the sacred use of drugs our cultures simply would not have evolved as they have. Without an understanding of the use of 'drugs' by ancient soothsayers the pharmaecological properties of plants would not be known today and people the world over would be suffering needlessly.

Thus when an occultist talks of 'drugs' or mind alterning substances we are not talking of 'recreational drugs'

but of sacred substances which open doors in the mind to enable greater understanding. Discussions about drugs in this forum should be limited to the sacred use of substances in their historical context.
Regards, John Dennis

Hi there. Red Dragon let me point out that if you asked virtually any British person if they had any 'unfortunate' experiences whilst under the 'affluence of incohol' then the answers from most would be yes. Everybody who gets drunk will at some point wake the next day and think, ''Oh my God, I did'nt do that did I''?! Two options: firstly, never drink again or secondly, feel a little ashamed and then get over it! Simple. As to any other drugs being used in ritual then in my opinion the answer should be a big no. Any form of experimentationion with drugs can lead to further experimentation with stronger substances. I know of too many people who are now regular cocaine users/heroine users and they all started with a bit of cannabis experimentation and went from there because they found they 'liked' it.

In reply to Red Dragon's post, the viewpoints expressed are mine and solely mine and are not the views of the S.A. just me, myself, and I.

Yep, no doubt about it Red Dragon if used cautiously, I would say drugs can be spiritually valuable in loosening the girders of the soul so to speak. One has to test the information gathered via drugs as in any other cases of spiritual exploration, the method used being something like gematria, qabalah correspondences etc (or whatever method one finds efficacious). Its a matter of choice, one will use them others will not. If it is one's will to use drugs in their quest for attaining, then so be it. I just feel that those who do should not be held in contempt for doing so by others, and that information gathered by the use of drugs does not always equal false spiritual knowledge. If information gathered under the influence of drugs is tested and held to be valid according to whatever system one uses for testing (i.e. correspondences, gematria etc), then there is no reason why that information should not be put forward as just as valid as that gathered under more "rigid" methods.

My opinions are NOT those of the S.A. or any affiliated members, they are purely pesonal view points.
I do not reccomend taking drugs (Unless prescribed by one's G.P.)
to anyone, however, I recently had an unfortunate experience with alchohol, widely used and available, yet possibly the most dangerous of all drugs. Personally, I might prepare for Ritual by partaking of 'strange drugs', finding this morally acceptable, and, used with extreme care, beneficial. No doubt there are those who will damn my words. I would remind any pro-drug writers to add a disclaimer, that your views are not those of the S.A. or any other member; also this is a very sensitive issue, and words should be carefully thought through,(if you will.)With considration of those who will read your words. I hope this is of value.
