	Really like the saff site. i checked out creationist.org afterwards. my jaw is still on the ground. 	I agree with you Karen but they are not alone. Saudi Arabia's human rights record is absolutely appalling and far worse than some dictator lead countries, but let's not massage the political blind-spot. The machinery which works to keep the Saudi royal family in power has it's counterpart in the one which keeps the Establishment in power in the U.K. A ruling caste of priests who set an impossible moral standard for others to follow and then demand holy retribution against imperfect souls who fall from grace. The British law courts are full of this hypocrisy. Even in our so-called secular government the same mechanisms play out - viz the manic persecution of paedophiles. It's all mind-control. 	I've long heard that the Saudi royal family, who insist on exceedingly strict religious observance from their cowed subjects, live the lives of total libertines themselves. Hence there's a strong element of class oppression and corruption here, as well as fundamentalist misogyny, religious intolerance, etc.

	Hi Puretongue. These witchcraft executions are utterly, tragic and a complete and unnecessary waste of life. It isn't just happening in Saudi because the SAFF [www.saff.ukhq.co.uk] assure me they have files of similar executions all over Africa and Asia which are occurring all the time. Although there are cases where men are accused the vast majority of people who are put to death for witchcraft are and always were WOMEN. What we have here is the same patriarchal hate of women from exclusively male priesthoods who have feared the empowerment of women since time immemorial. It is an absolute scandal that so-called enlightened and liberal politicians in the West (invariably male!) turn a blind eye to this extreme form of sexism in other countries whilst prattling on at their home audience about equal rights for women! The allegation that this poor woman made a man impotent and so must be executed says it all doesn't it? If we are not forcing men into raping us because we are irresistibly sexy we are to blame for them not being able to get it up. It was this misogynist attitude to women which fuelled the Burning Times of the 14,15 and 16 centuries in Europe where millions of innocent women who had nothing whatsoever to do with the Old Religion were stripped naked and repeatedly sadistically sexually abused in torture chambers in sufferings so great that the occasional rape must have been a welcome respite from unbearable pain before these 'worthless and indecent' ladies were executed for witchcraft. Of course the true value of the Ancient Wisdom is that it is not monotheistic - the god and goddess have equal status and respect. Many believe that a truly equitable society can only be achieved on this basis and that women will always be institutionally victimised in civilisations which adhere to a patriarchal monotheism. 	In November, Saudi Arabia executed an Egyptian for Sorcery. They currently have a woman, Fawza Falih, awaiting execution for witchcraft. Convicted after being reported for making a man impotent, Fawza Falih is still effectively on death row, despite having the death penalty revoked by an appeal court, but a lower court has ruled that the execution should go ahead. Now this is Saudi Arabia, but we can see in the news accounts online (Reuters, Human Rights Watch) that the prejuidices and oppressive psychological mechanisms in play in this case, are the same as were obvious during the SRAM and still exist here today.
