Hi, One and All,
My personal viewpoint: If I download a spell from Fr. Marabus, in cyberspace, it seems to be Yetziric, in the formative planes; I invoke on all planes, through to the Assiatic: physical plane.
So, I write the spell in my B.o.S, Diary.
Similarly, I enjoy picking up a solid book, rather than read a screen. One could argue a case for printing, as I have done with some unique pentagram Rituals, a combo. of QBL, Thelema and Enochia, now transferred to my B.o.S: Book of Shadows.
What if my p.c. crashes? No problem.
Further, my taste for Thelemic literature is diffucult to find. Not for S.A. Further, Frater Marabus has always, bravely stood up, and announced, that, if I need advice, He is there for Me, and you.
I know where to download books S.A. sells, why should I deny S.A. the money asked for physical knowledge, beyond price? If everybody did that, S.A. would suffer, and we need them, as a beacon, a reference point, and so much more!
I am a serious student of Thelemic work, and read out of print works E.G. The Equinox. Otherwise, S.A. :every time.
I rest my case. Now, come Hell or high water, I'm going
into seclusion, awhile, to meditate.
Best Wishes: One and All.
The One desires The many, as The many desire The One.

I have no issues with being proved wrong missplacedself so in the interest of learning i will try and strenghten the weaker argument.
Generaly speaking, filling your hard drive with books youll never study is just a waste of time. Books, titles and money are not what makes a Magician. Marabas akins this mentality to to the internet porn junky, who gets off on the "collecting" rather than the "content". When i got into Magick i did this exact same thing. I countered this attitude with a passion for real books, treating them like surgical instuments ready to be mastered, and, Bobs your uncle i stared to learn.
I still download books that might take my fancy and if they suit me i buy them if not i delete them. I win the sellers win. This saves me money and every book on my loved bookcase is useful. Theres so much stuff in print on Magick it would have cost me a fortune flicking through what was right for me. So rather than promoting one or the other i shall promote the common sense approach. Respect yourself.

I have to say that I am not in a position to have a lot of occult books around my dwellings so I will download books to my laptop whenever I can. I don't know what the copyright is with some of them. In some cases I have even binned
a book I have bought due to its controversial nature or obstrusive size and kept a download instead. I for one am very grateful that so many of Marabas's teachings can be downloaded. Best idea yet. Instant, succinct and no one is ripped off. - Alan
[Infoburst: That's a very good point Alan, there still can be a lot of prejudice and intolerance over a family member researching the esoteric and if a person is in this kind of position it can be useful to keep a 'digital library' and avoid the confrontation (and invasion of privacy) which printed books might cause if brought into the household. It is strange how ordinary folk are tricked into unthinkingly believing that information in a book on, say, the tenets of Satanism is dangerous and subversive, whereas an encyclopaedia which contains step-by-step details of how nuclear devices are constructed is educational! Digital books will have a very important part to play in the future dissemination of the Ancient Wisdom. BB Denise]

Book prices

On the subject of books, Does the Sorcerer's Apprentice still do a price-beater
service eg, one of your books is available elsewhere at a discounted price, will
you sell that book for the lower price ? I remember this was the offer at one time. I'd rather give my money to SA than some big corporate bookseller, on the other hand, for a few quid I wouldn't quibble as your service is the fastest and best around. MS.
[Infoburst: Yes Morningstar, Most of our titles are exclusive and are only obtainable through us but we still 'match or beat' any other bookseller who offers open-market occult publications 'edition-for-edition' which we carry in our lists. (i.e. paperback vs paperback / hardcover vs hardcover etc). Experienced netters will know that often it is not the actual price of the book which is the final arbiter but associated charges (postage, packing, insurance, processing charges and, of course, whether they actually have the book to sell ( so often 'discount' booksellers on the net don't carry any physical stock and order it from the publishers when you order it from them (lower overheads!) - hence 10 cheaper can mean waiting months before you get that important book for your personal development and then the trade-off doesn't look so attractive. It is very important also to remember that reducing the service is one way of lowering overheads and that buying a book 10 cheaper somewhere else doesn't mean the S.A. are making 10 more profit - these discount sellers make just as much and in many instances even more profit due to various market structuralisations. Lastly, and here we are back with that bane of modern life 'discountitis' again, with most discount booksellers (and with ALL pirated books) you don't get free priceless after sales service and advice to put you right from adepts like you do at the S.A. That can be worth far more than the price of the book itself! BB Denise W. ]

It's actually a bit disrespectful, seeing that this forum has been provided by an occult bookseller, and the purpose is the e-soteric not e-piracy. Just my opinion. - John K.
[You are right John, it reveals the paucity of understanding evinced by NotSayingMate and others who have unwittingly bought into consumerist discountitis. Anyone who thinks they can benefit from the sacred magical knowledge which has taken a lifetime of learning and sacrifice to amass by stealing it off the net has got to be deluding themselves. The books are not the magic - they lead to the inner realisation of the magic - and simply possessing them will benefit the unwary nothing. Squirreling away pirated magical tomes which your mental processes simply cannot come to terms with because of an anally retentive approach to materialism which society has indoctrinated you with will not bring you closer to initiate-hood. What kind of person steals a reasonable living from the mouth of his own heroes, stoops to criminalising himself in the process and then thinks he is getting something for nothing? BB Denise W ]
