Hi William
I've recently read "21st Century Mage" by Jason Newcombe which brings the Abramelin Process up to date. Worth a look if you're considering taking it further.

Many thanks to Puretongue, Denise and Imperial Wizard
for your replies here. Abramelin is a book I've had
on the shelves a long time but never really thought
I'd ever have much use for until recently I used a
Goetia talisman successfully and I began to wonder
about the magical squares. Loads of thoughts in my
mind about the intelligences connected to talismans
also especially Goetia and whether they may be collective
servitors created, and fed off the collective use and
belief of magicians over the centuries kind of like
Chaos magic servitors, or have you ever wondered if
it is the god/spirit/servitor who causes the chaoist
to 'create/evoke' it? Thanks again,
William.

Its kinda funny you should be asking this because its something I've toyed with doing myself and have recently come across a new more comprehensive version of the book by Abraham von Worms, this alleges to fill in alot of the gaps left by Mathers so is really worth having if you're gonna have a dabble with the Abramelin squares and I do believe one of the S.A Spellkits features one of those squares so maybe you don't need to purify or contact your HGA afterall.

Hi There was an article in the Sorcerer's Apprentice house magazine "The Lamp of Thoth" some years ago on this theme.
The item was by JH Brennan and suggested you could write the squares to good effect without the purification.
However, in a recent book ("The Wizard's Apprentice" I believe), Brennan describes some of the problems that later occurred for someone who had done this. It is not clear whether this subject is the same person or not.
I would recommend reading both if can.

[Infoburst: This is an intriguing point Puretongue and it comes up time after time in theurgy. Marabas teaches that the traditional approach is that the magician has to put his/her house in order; to simplify and purify his/her ring-pass-not before invoking the magical squares otherwise it will not be strong enough to cope with the energies which result and may 'spill-over' to cause abberations elsewhere in the magician's life. The modern approach is that providing one is mentally and psychologically prepared (i.e. trained properly in control of elemental powers etc - see the S.A.'s
Grimoire of The Shadows CD and our
Elemental Symbol Cards for this) one can identify any overspill and contain it before it causes any unwanted effects - which is the same thing really as both approaches meet somewhere in the middle (who amongst us is absolutely pure?). In any event most of the overspill effects reported seem fairly inoccuous and could be looked upon as an indication that the square is working rather than a warning not to proceed. Perhaps forum uses should embark on a collective experiment with one of the Abra Melin acrostics?

Abramelin Magical squares

I am interested to know whether the magical squares in the Book of
the Sacred Magic of Abramelin the Mage can be constructed as Talismans
without one entering into the Abramelin system of purification and
ritual, in other words, can the squares be copied on parchment, and
consecrated for general use as a system of their own ? Has anyone
tried using them ? How well did they work ?

SMCC, Magick works best for the operator because it works through the operator. This does not mean that i cant change your destiny by doing magic for you (ie. selling you a talisman that we have chraged for you) but it would link my destany with yours and as i dont know you that aint never gonna happen. This is an honest answer... which is more than you are getting from these money grabbing twats that claim to be Adept and advertise there nonesense to the vunerable folk like yourselves.

Witches of old had to be Cunning and the problems still remain, and so too do we have to use our creativity so we can pass ourselves off as "towing the line". The Candle Magick Spell kit
More Details here
comes with Chinese Wash to purify the area and tools so that any space, or what appears to be every day items, can be used for Ritual. The Chinese Wash and Candle Annointing Oil themselves can be easily disguised with a quick label change. The candles are just candles until charged and in most cases can be left to burn away leaving no trace. Our only limitation is our imagination!!!
Good Luck

Hello,
I have a question about talismans and amulets, can they be recharged with orgone beamers like some websites claim?
Also what do you think of the talismans other websites sell that claim they don't need to be activated by the wearer or recharged, can they work that way?

[Infoburst: I think they are revealing their lack of knowledge and understanding. We have many times said that 95 of what passes for occultism on the web is simply well-meaning ignorance or people who will tell you anything you want to hear to make buying from them easy. Marabas teaches that the charging of a talisman is absolutely necessary because it acts as an astral lens to focus the vibrations required into the ring-pass-not of the magician, therefore the person wanting to use the talisman MUST charge it in order to focus it. If a Talisman requires charging then that charge will by qualification diminish over time so it will require re-charging occasionally. Perhaps these people whom you quote are confusing an Amulet (a magical device which by virtue of its natural shape or quality emits particular magical vibrations and propagates them in the immediate vicinity) with Talismans; which are structured entirely by the magician for a specific purpose. Amulets are essentially naturally created Symbols whereas a Talisman is a representation of the universe as the magician wants it to occur. One is the universe imposing itself on the magician, the other is the magician imposing him/herself on the universe. Listen to dimwits and you become a diwmit - that's what Marabas says. BB Denise W.

Talismans still require a wee bit of ritual, whether making your own or
activating one that's been made for you, although in the latter case it's
quite simple needing maybe a candle and the right moon-phase and consecrating
oil.(see the SA's talisman selection as a good starter). Candle-magick
(actually FIRE magick) needs a full set-up so you'd need privacy, but as M
suggests in his Candle-magick spellbook (chuck all yer new age spellbooks
in the bin and get a copy of this !)

you could check into a hotel or use
someone else's place for the duration...

Candle-magic or Talismans best ?

I am fairly new to practical magic and have to be a bit
discreet, and at present couldn't have a lot of paraphernalia
around the house so I was wondering if Talismanic magic where
I could easily conceal a talisman would be as effective
as Candle-Magic (As this is the SA's forum, speaking in terms
of their offered items, would an SA talisman for wealth be
as efficient as a spellkit for wealth or using the said spell
from Candle Magick spellbook ?)...RW

[Infoburst: You are creating false choices here. It's like asking whether Red is better than Green. Nothing is generally better than everything else in genuine occult technique. The reason why there are so many magical methods and techniques is that humans are individuals and their lives are unique - hence a one-size-fits-all mentality will not work. A rite or spell which has been successful for others is a good indication that it will work also for you but if your situation is particularly complex or long-standing then a better result may be had using an ancillary method. What is important is that you take up your destiny and begin to use magic whichever method you start with, because even if it doesn't produce a complete solution you will still have taken the first step on the ladder to success and can eliminate that to move on to additional techniques which will give you what you need. So, it's horses for courses and without knowing your exact situation it is difficult to advise. That is why the S.A. has a free advice line. Email me in confidence and we will advise you wnat to do.
