If you omit your email address people will still be able to reply to you on the Forum and you can log on later to see their comments. If you do choose to leave your real email address you can select the update function on any particular thread and you will automatically be sent an email if that thread is updated or when others contribute and enlarge it. ( http://halloweenchoiceorg.bravehost.com)</a> I am really surprised that so few people from this forum have bothered to add their name to this petition. The ones that haven't will no doubt be the first in the queue to complain when the evangelist extremists who thought up this campaign move on to directly challenging their own beliefs. You can vote on this issue purely on human rights grounds - you don't have to be a confirmed pagan to cast your on-line vote or to put your name on the petition. However many pagans do not see the ramifications of the CofE's move. The end result of what the CofE are trying to establish is that observing Halloween causes harm to children and if you are a pagan and have kids then you should be suspected of psychological child abuse (a definition that comes well within the government guidelines giving social workers justification to act on their prejudices!). I have obviously voted, and want to give John all the support necessary for him to counter this pernicious attempt to oppress free-thinkers. Please vote using the link to his page above and also let all your esoteric contacts know (pagan or otherwise) about the campaign so that we nip this in the bud. BB Denise W.

Well said, John; I have just sent the halloweenchoiceorg address details to two pagan lists I belong to, and signed the petition myself.

Honestly, the C of E wouldn't dare organise an alternative event to Ramadan, and tell people that fasting is bad for their children's health! The worst thing your average child is going to get from celebrating Halloween is an upset stomach from eating too many sweets (something they could do any day of the year!)

Hi there, I am a regular user of pagan forums on the net and was shocked to discover that the Church of England has just put its weight behind an evangelical campaign to ban Halloween. Problem is that so few pagans are aware of it. We have of course become inured with the usual yearly opinionating by vicars in the local press but this is something much more dangerous. The CofE has sanctioned religious persecution and given the green light to evangelist extremists. You can see the tone if you read the Telegraph report on it at
