The pharmacy said something about airlines not being able to put the meds in the fridge anymore...but I have no experience with this. I've gotten a few of those needle things sent to my house...lol, all free! Who knew you could get such awesome free things? I wish Enbrel have out those DVDs! I think I'd like those better! The pharmacy (lol, they know me by name....) also said a good way to dispose of needles when you don't have the cases is to put it in an empty water bottle, screw the lid on, and then duck tape the lid (those are the instructions from the local dump here).
I had a red sharps container that I got from my pharmacy...They're free with the purchase of an injectable medication (at least at the pharmacy where I go)...Once it was filled I would just return it to the pharmacy for disposal...

Also, ask the flight attendant, they will store it in the fridge for you...just don't forget to pick it up before you leave. I throw my pens in the trash BUT my free pack also came with a needle throw away kit...you know the thing they have on the walls of hospitals-it's red.

For Enbrel, to get the travel kit, you can call (800)4Enbrel. Its free. They also will pay for your insurance co-pays.

The ice packs SHOULD last long enough for your plane ride...I used to get mine shipped to me (it was cheaper to order 3 months at a time from my insurance co's mail-order pharmacy) and they would just use the regular plastic ice packs you can buy at Walmart, the grocery store, etc....They lasted overnight in one of those styrofoam coolers and were still really super cold when they arrived at my doorstep...As long as you put it in some sort of cooler or insulated bag it should be fine no matter how long your flight is...Of course skipping a dose is always an option, but if you're spending the money to go on vacation overseas do you really want to risk a flare?

I didn't get one either! I am going overseas for 2 weeks and I'm not sure about taking my Humira with me. (it's going to be a very long plane ride!) Also how do you dispose of the pen after it's been used? My scheduled dose falls right in the middle of my vacation. Figures!! Maybe I'll just wait until I get back...

I didn't get that :( Maybe that's a new thing that they're doing...I haven't been on Enbrel or Humira for quite some time now...

My pharmacy said that if you are traveling on an airplane with your Enbrel, make sure to bring a copy of your Rx--- just the label from the package should be more than ok. They also mentioned a few other things...but they didn't apply to me at the time, so I didn't remember! I'd give your local pharmacy a call and see what they have to say.
