First, I'd like to say hello to everyone. I am an old time EMRA sedan racer, but new to formula racing. I have been speaking with Lindsey over the winter and he has been an enormous help to me.
Last month I bought a DB-1. I have a question about the wheels that came with the car, I'll describe the problem I am having as best I can, I'm not sure if it will be clear or if anyone has any prior experience with this issue.
The car has pin-drive, centerlock wheels. On the car now are what I am told are "old style" gold Panasports. They are held in place by a "cone" washer and a large nut and then a hitch pin. They fit fine and I have no issues with them.
I was also given a spare set of wheels, one of which is a "newer" style Panasport, gray in color. The center section of this wheel is thicker, the best way to describe it is that it has an extra metal "ring" around the center hole. When I mount this wheel, the cone washer and the nut are further out on the axle so that there are not enough threads for the nut and hitch pin.
Anyone else run into this before? Are there different sized cone washers that I can use? A smaller nut? Longer stub axles?
I'm looking to buy another set of wheels and have to figure this out before I buy them and also to make this wheel I have fit.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
