I'll measure the size tonight, but it came off a VD FC... So should fit easily...
My email addy is abuldo@aol dot com, cell # 914-403-9852. I can ship it out tommorrow.
I'm retiring the season early, with a good race and a win on Sat. Without rear bodywork, the turbalance on the wing is killing me, no sense in being a hazard on such a fast track...
A good week for us old guys driving Citations.

Thanks Ambrose!

Tony -- save your $$$. Use my Coast Unit... I won't be running LRP, but plan to take a ride up to the track...
Last year I ran FF, and used the official RCCA Walker Muffler, that I think came off Grandma's Buick.

FYI the reason that the Db is lower than a SCCA event is that there are only so many "Unmuffled" days that Lime Rock sells and the SCCA grabs most of them. Also these higher Db track days are sold at a higher rate. Which is one reason why Emra has lower fees.

Thanks for the tips guys. As mentioned, I will be getting one of those mufflers just to be safe, but wanted to know what I was up against and what the exact noise limit was that we are expected to meet.
This is bringing back bad memories of my rotary at Bridghampton. That was a never ending battle.
Take care, hope to see you later this month at LRP.

Fran is correct, most parts stores will have them in stock. I think I got mine at a local AutoZone. What I like about the units is that
1. They are cheap
2. Should be narrow enough to fit thru the slit in rear bodywork (Be careful that there is enouhg clearace to not burn your bodywork)
3. Come in differant inlet sizes, so it should just slip right over your exhaust (After you remove the straigt pipe). You may want to cut 4 slits into it so the clamp will be more effective.
Initial setup, 30 min, switching over, 5 min tops.
Please pre-fit it to your car as your rear support braket may have to be moved down a bit to accomidate for the wider tube. On the VD-FF (Mimiliar to your Swift) we cut the Bracket/Post/Support and drilled a lower set of mounting holes so we could use it with muffler or without muffler.

If you don't have time to order one of those glass pack mufflers from Summit, most parts stores have them in stock in various sizes for about the same price. If you don't see them on the sales floor, ask at the parts counter. I know Advance, Auto zone and Pepboys have them.

Noise at Lime Rock 88db on Tack

The following was posted by Bob Hill ont he EMRA Site... FIgured I'd post it here as well...
"... we must meet something like 88dB on track for our date at LRP..."
"A small two or three chamber cannister is the best way to be quiet without restriction of the motor. Super trapps are marginal and often to be quiet enough you have to remove so many discs that you lose power--don't waste your time and end up with a frustrating day."
A simple slip on with a support bracket is the best way to go--and this is based on over twenty years of experience with noise at both LRP and Bridgehampton

Ambrose,
Thanks for the response about the noise and the link for the muffler. Since it is so cheap I will probably buy one just to have it in case there is aproblem.
Thanks

Tom - I always ran a Muffler on my VD RF-85. Never tied without it, so don't know how we would of fared. Saw no differance in power, so did not risk losing a session.
If you don't want to spend $ for a super trap or a coast race unit, my suggestion is to spend about $20 and pick up one of these
http://store.summitracing.com/egnsearch.asp?autoview=sku&N=302015
Armed with a couple of clamps, you'll be in a quite it down, if needed.
I know last year, none of the FC's were able to pass muster. There was all sorts of Crazy Fabrication going on till 2 AM.

Noise at Lime Rock

Is the noise limit for the EMRA event at Lime Rock on the 28th the same as the usual noise limit that applies for the usual SCCA regional races? Or is it lower?
SCCA uses a track sound level of 103db, while EMRA says 83 db in the paddock. I'm not clear if those two different leasurements are approximately the same or is it stricter for EMRA?
Our FF runs without a muffler at the SCCA regionals without any noise issues. Do the FF guys usually have to add a muffler for EMRA's event?
Thanks
Tom Valet
