Tony:

FYI-My work schedule keeps shifting, yesterday I was 90% sure I was going to be able to make it, now chances are less then 20%, which is why I've not registered or sent you guest list yet.

By Friday, I'll have all the parts to finish up the car. If I get help, car will be done and loaded the weekend before (Will need full re-aglignnet and scaling), just in case.

To answer the questions outlined...here is a recap of VRG/FPR conversation today:

Watkins Glen - Update
Here is a recap of the conversations between VRG and FPRO today:

MINI ENDURO, the agreed format will be.......
7 minute - Pit (car @ stop) / Self Timed
ANY refuel / driver out of car & extinguisher on hand
No car can enter until after 10min of running or during the last (20 minute window)
Limited PitSpeed (1st gear / 3000rpm)

QUALIFYING....the agreed format is we plan on using fastest laps for FPRO grids on Friday and Saturday (bit different then norm). All other will grid behind the FPRO guys. Note - VRG has accepted some Ontario FF1600 cars (treaded Dunlops) and they will grid with you all

GUEST LIST......please provide any/all names of people you think may attend (crew, guests) to Lindsey. The track requires a list of all people beforehand - better to be safe then sorry.

VRG/FPRO will be running on the Watkins Glen (LONG TRACK). You are welcome to arrive anytime after 5pm on Thursday.

As always, feel free to reach out if you need to discuss. THANKS!

Personally, I think you should be able to make the pit stop whenever you please, as long as you take the green flag at the start of the race. Basically you have to take the green (the start)and checker. Whichever way is decided, it needs to be simple-stupid so there are no misunderstandings, and make sure every racer and at least one person from crew is in the drivers meeting. Dont know if I necessarily agree with having to exit the car during pit stop (takes me about 10 minutes to get in and belted anyway!). Here is a crazy idea.. if no one is changing drivers, why dont we just make it a 38 minute race? I would think that we could all go the distance fuel wise...

Can the Sat Oct 20 9:45 AM Warmup (15 Min), be changed to timed qualifing for the 11:40 race? Then the enduro starting positions can be based on the race results.

Pit stop is going to be intresting. Not sure what our burn rate is going to be. Not being there on Friday, gives us one session to figure it out. I believe we may be marginial in making it without refueling.

In speaking to LW, I know there will be a earliest you can stop and latest you can stop window. When does the 7 min start? When car is stopped and engine off? I believe everyone should be forced to sit with engines off for the full 7 min. I also know there will be pit lane speed limit (XXXX RPM, 1st gear).

I understand, we will be self policing ourselves with the stop. What is the penality for short stopping?

Short stopping can be policed via the timing sheet. Timing sheet, must show 7 MIn + in and out time (8 min total?) plus a time eqaul or greater then your last lap prior to pitting.

For example, you pit on lap 20, but lap 19 was 2 min even. You next lap must read 2 min + 7 Min + 30 sec in + 30 sec out. Total 10 min lap time.

What are the penalities for stopping in the early/late window. Can you make your stop under full yellow? Do you need to get out of the cart is noit refueling. I beleive everyone should get out of the car if re-fueling, even if refuling can be done with driver installed.

Lets kick around some ideas and come up wiht someting that is safe and works.

We have a limited MK-5 Gear selection and are not going to make an investment in any more right now. For WG Long (W/Inner Loop), does this sound reasonable?

FC 2000 Citation - Pinto SHIFT RPM = 6800 -
10/31 R&P, Mid life Engine, High Downforce wings trimmed out

1st 16/26 Ratio 1.625 - MPH @6800 88.4

2nd 21/30 Ratio 1.429 - MPH @6800 100.5 - RPM DROP 822 - RPM 5978

3rd 21/26 Ratio 1.238 - MPH @6800 116.0 - RPM DROP 907 - RPM 5893

4th 19/21 Ratio 1.105 - MPH @6800 129.9 - RPM DROP 730 - RPM 6070

yeh, I didnt really think I would be able to go 40 minutes on one tank (especially at the Glen being on Full throttle so much).. and I wasnt really keen on refueling being that my filler is about 6 inches from the header... gues I will start planning my "race strategy" now...

There will be a mandatory pit stop for the open wheel cars. A 45 minute race would leave you out of fuel. The stop will probably be 7 minutes to allow everyone to make it on 1 tank

Hey Y'all..
I am planning on being there for Fri/Sat. I was away last week and didnt see the extension on the early bird special (Chris S- I will email you). I ran WG this past weekend w/SCCA, had a very good turnout (12 or so FC's).. I will lobby everyone I can to come out for this one. Are we running the long course or short?
Quick question about the mandatory 5 min pit stop.. are we doing that in the open wheel group?

Check with LW to be sure on the FRCCA liciences, but it should not be an issue. I ran with FPR initially exclusively with the FRCCA Licience and had no issues.

Last time I ran WG, in my VD FF, it was quite fun. We ran in FRCCA SPEC and the Gears seemed very well suited to the long course.

Yes, they could race with FPR if they have race experience. Registration is through VRG for the Fri/Sat races; EMRA for Sunday race. They would have to pay $45 for a temporary membership. If they wanted to join FPR that money would be applied to a full membership that would extend into 2008.

WE would accept the rcca license as long as it is a regular competition license and you have had a few races experience. You can email me if you have questions. lwolfer@optonline.net

I would have to defer to Lindsey.....

I assume this would be a CF with slicks, so you would run with Formula Pro. If you run the CF with treaded tire, then I can qualify you for VRG. Feel free to call me to discuss....

Lindsey - Do you accept FRCCA?
