Went with a Arnie last night. A 1st class facility. In the lobby alone, over 1/2 mill $ of Cars (Lotus, GT-40, Porsche). Plenty of elevated viewing areas.
Great Sodi Gas Karts, All brand new equipment. Some helmets never worn and suits never worn. They provide everything less gloves and shoes.
They have 2 tracks, Uptown and Downtown. I prefer Uptown, but both good. Uptown had concrete patches just like LRP. I think Wallingford CT track has a bit more of a pucker factor, but this is fast enough to not get bored. And get this, they let you race for position!!! They don't spread you out like other facilities. You get one yellow pace lap, followed by a rolling green (Although I believe standing starts may be an option if pre-arranged).
Track was fast enough that I was sore after 2 runs. On Uptown, I got within 0.8-0 of best time for day.
Very well organized. We were on track within 20 min of getting there. After first race we decided to do another and were in the very next session. We had lap sheets within minutes of getting out of Kart. Times/positions are also displayed trackside on big screen TV.
$10 day member fee is OK. $25 per race is a little steep, but I still think it is worth it. The most a hard core racer will do is 3 or 4 session before wallet and arms give out. Unfort, I did not see any info on multiple race or advance purchase discounts.
I am defiantly going back.
Anyone interested in going? Nothing pre-arranged formally, just pick date and time and go for it. Maybe next Tues, 6:30ish, as there were no lines or crowds (Maybe due to downpour outside).
Last time we did this at On-track we ended up with 25 Racers, Friends, Crew, Family.
