hey drop me a line via email or on my cell at 516-697-8249. I've got a shop over in Hicksville and we've currently got 7 cars in the shop right now, 6 FCs (5 zetec, 1 pinto) and 1 FA. We're hustling to get them rebuilt in time for our season opener (pro f2000) but I'd be more than happy to show you the shop and give you a run down on the local openwheel scene. Be warned the shop is messy right now as we're basically 3 weeks from VIR and hustling to get the cars finished!

We're all a friendly bunch. From SCCA regional club racing, FPR, SCCA nationals, and pro f2000 there is a very large group of friendly knowledgeable racers who are always more than willing to help a new guy out!

Open wheel way, the way to go.

I suggest you contact Lindsey, if you want to check out his car (VD-Zetec). There are quit a few in the Syosset area.

As for liciensing, FPR will accept most other liciences, or a strong resume. Again contact Lindsey for details. My suggestion, do a SCCA race school get a licience via tht route. You get 3 hrs of seat time.

Contact - no, not very common, we all have to work on Monday. Car to car contact in Open Wheel is rare. This is not Spec Miata. In 5 seasons, only had one minor inident of car on car contact.

Typicial maintaince, depends on what you get and it's condition. For use we do a clean/instection/boltdown between weekends. Three Hours is typicial. Alignment once or twice per year at 3 hrs. FF/FC (Pinto Engine) Fluid changes, 2X per season. Pinto engine, rebuild 1500 miles, head refresh 750 miles.

Yes, an open trailer works. Big issue is having to pack/repack between events. I run a 16' enclosed, 18' is probably ideal.

You'll find group to be very social. Typicially pitting together, sharing crew, expertise, food/drink, etc.

So i have been looking very hard at different racing groups and cars. Coming from karts and loving the open wheel cars my thoughts right now are pointing towards the open wheel way!!!

I see that the contacts for this group are in Hicksville, i use to live in syosset and just moved to huntington so if anyone knows anyone out here i can contact to sit in a car i would appreciate it.

My plan is to come out to the track and spend a day or two to go over the cars and events.

I was just wondering what type of licensing procedures the club has?

I know this is a club but it is racing. Is there alot of contact or does everyone respect each other. I know there could be an accident and stuff does happen but i am looking to do this for fun and have to return to work the next day.

What type of maintenance do your cars have? Can you get away with an open trailer, i am tired of pulling the big trailers (been there done that).

How is the group atmosphere, i know one of your members ambrose has been more than helpful and just wondering how the rest of the group is, friendly, or more competitive and not willing to help.

Thanks in advance for your answers to my questions.

Anthony
