Considering John was using new conference software for the first time, first session went quite well. We only started a few min late, and ended right on time. John clearly knows his stuff and knows how to communicate it well. He was very well prepared with his materials.
It for the most part covered the basics of systems, sensors and the different ways data is displayed. This was conveyed via a series of 37 slides. I'm very much looking forward to the Thursday night session, where I expect we'll be looking at interpreting some of the data collected.
I don't think anyone would be at a disadvantage if they still booked and joined in Thurs night. I believe we had 7 or 8 drivers present last night, an even mix between open wheelers and stock car/other guys.

I just spoke to John Block at www.Auto-Ware.com
He provided me with the next series of dates for his Data Acquisition Web-Seminar. They are not posted on his site yet, but for those interested they will be:
8 PM, EST
Starting Tuesday Feb 17th and running the 19th, 24th, 26th and March 3rd (basically Tuesdays and Thursdays).
Outline as posted on his site
Data Acquisition part 1-
Hardware basics (sensors, beacon, logger), Software basics (track maps, segments, theoretical lap times, wheel spin, graphics, and surprising real data).
Data Acquisition part 2 -
Learning specific G signatures, identifying and measuring oversteer/understeer, spotting excess rebound in front shocks, understanding noise
Data Acquisition part 3 -
Using data to interpret tire temp values, & delta, shock velocity, understanding histograms, identifying shock wedge, impacts on tires
Data Acquisition part 4 -
Handling interactions, measuring slip angles and friction coefficient, differential speed, transient handling.
Data Acquisition part 5 -
Measuring, monitoring and improving specific driver skills.
Note: You must have speakers to hear the seminar. If you have a microphone you can talk, too. Broadband/high speed works best but a really good 56k dial-up will work.
I think price is more then reasonable at $50, less then the price of a good book (Or allot less then the hard to find Buddy Frey Book
I'm already registered. My Crew Chief will attend a future session.
I have no direct affiliation, I'm just passing this info on as a participant, who hopes to learn how to use the AIM Pista system more effectively.
I spoke to John few weeks back and he sounds very knowledgeable.
If you do contact him, please make sure you mention that you got this info here on APEXSPEED or Formula Pro Site. Would be great if the audience was made up mostly of Open Wheel Road Racers. Class is limited to 20 people.
