Hi Nial, Happy to hear your Mom is doing ok. I live in the high desert in eastern Riverside County. Our weather here has been between 100 - 115 degrees everyday for the past 3 weeks. We did have a huge rain storm 10 days ago. Poured down about 8 inches of rain in 20 min. Every intersection in town was flooded with about 2 feet of water. We do not expect to see a break in the weather for the next several weeks. I go from ac in the house to the truck and then into work.. I cannot stand the heat but it is fairly inexpensive to live here except for the electric bills. lol. I will be heading to France on the 12th out of JFK. Sorry you and Linda cannot make it Maria. will call you though. Anyone who would like to go with me the offer is still open. You just need to get your passport and airfare. I have a car rented. and have room in my time share. Have a great August. Alice

Glad to hear that your Mom is recovering well.It seems like the weather is hot all over the world Nial. Here in Portugal it is VERY hot and VERY dry.We had no rain in the winter and now it seems like all our forrests are going up in smoke.A few smaller villages up north have been lost to the fires.I´m glad that I live by the ocean,I can´t stand the heat.I guess I´ll have to visit my parents when it snows,I remember those hot and humid summer days, when you could hardly breath and unlike you and a few other classmates,I´ll take snow over hot weather anytime.Take care and I hope your Mom recovers quickly.

I've been in Jackson the last 4 days helping out my folks. My Mom just had knee replacement* (and she's doing pretty well).
Anyway, it was HOT in Jackson!
Seemed like about 100 F almost every day with very high humidity.
I can't believe we didn't have air conditioning in cars or houses when I grew up here.
I guess we didn't miss what we didn't have.
We finally got some rain last night...it's tolerable today, thank goodness.

*Note: Ocean Medical Center (in Brick) was a great place for knee surgery and rehab.
