Hi Nial, The camping was awesome. Although we have had no rain the winter and the lake is down quite a bit it is still a pheonomenal sight. We had a covey of quail and Mr & Mrs Roadrunner in our camp site several times. On tolerable evenings we even had a campfire. We stayed in one camp site for 28 days and then moved to another campground only 5 miles from Hoover Dam. There were still several more campgrounds on the other side of the lake which we will try to visit in the spring and fall. Boulder City is a great town. The history there is a pheonomenal as that of the dam. It was started as a temporary town to house the dam workers and their families. When the dam was finished it was supposed to disappear but people stayed. Many of the houses there are the original homes built for the workers that they were able to buy for $50 when the dam was finished. I really like living in this area. Lots of things to do not just the casinos. Hope you & Linda can visit sometime soon.

Wow! Camping at Lake Mead near Hoover Dam. I have never been "out west" in the US, but I would love to visit that area.
As well as the dam (an engineering marvel) there is a neat B-29 bomber on display in that area.
Best of luck in your new digs.
Here's a neat picture of Lake Mead and the dam.</p>

Hi All, Just to let you know the Uvaneys really are gypsies. We left Hemet on Dec 17, 2005 with our tent trailer and have lived for 6 weeks at the Lake Mead Recreation Area. Visited Hoover Dam. That place is awesome. We moved into our new apartment in Las Vegas on Jan 23, 2006. It is a lovely 55+ community about a mile from The Strip. We can see the top of the Stratosphere from the shopping center parking lot. If you are ever out this way please call and visit. 702-751-7889. email is either jlnewcastle1@netscape.com or jlnewcastle@cox.net. Have a great New Year. Alice
