Hi Barbara
I stumbled across this site because I was looking for my son's webpage. I was married to Joe Artale from 1969 to 1984, I had 3 sons with him (Joe, Anthony & Derek). I don't remember your name. I have a sister Kathy (who was married to Billy Fischbach for a few years) and 2 brothers Jeff and Kenny.
Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Kathy,

I sent you a separate email, but just to say, yes, that was me. What a hilarious memory that is. Me , so young so naive, believing and telling you girls that they wouldn't even notice we were missing.....duh!!

But do you realize that band we saw that day at the World's fair became very rich and famous shortly after, and they were the McCoys.?? Of Hang on Sloopy fame?

My mother was mortified and wanted to beat the hell out of me. She always remembered every detail of waiting at the high school for the bus to pull in and it was late because " a couple of students were missing". She was praying that it wasn't me because she just "knew" it was. All the parents were concerned. We arrived in the pitch darkness and all the parents were waiting. LOL....yes, I admit I was a rebel.

It's so nice to hear from you.

God bless

Barbara W

Well needless to say, I got suspended from school the next day.

Welcome Barbara! I am no longer in Jackson, but I have one younger brother still living there and my folks (in their 80s) , live in nearby Manchester. In fact we are trying to sell their original house in Jackson right now. I live in the nothwest corner of NJ but I am often down visiting my folks and brother. Actually, I was in Jackson yesterday and will be there again tomorrow (to bring my Mom to the doctor). Anyway, if you would like to contact any of the names you see here, move your mouse under one of the names (they are on the left side of the page) and click on that name. It should bring up your e-mail program, allowing you to compose a note to that person. Some of the e-mail addresses may have changed, but I'd guess that most are still valid. If you would like to start a new topic (maybe to reach out to old friends or whatever), go the bottom of this page and click ---"[Return to Topics]"--- and then click on ---"[Post a Message]"--- (at the bottom of the page). Then you can fill in the Subect of your message, the actual message and so forth. If you do this, don't forget to fill in the verification code (this cuts down on SPAM). It is also possible to post any digital or scanned pictures you may wish to share (there's an example of this on the "Old Jackson Football Picture" message). Just send the picture to me and I'll post it. Otherwise, glad to see another name for The Good Old Days. (and don't forget to pass this website on to other Old Jackson Grads you may know). Regards, Nial McCabe

Hi people,

I came across this board because I have recently moved back to Jackson after leaving in 1965..and I did a search to see if I could find anyone I know. I remember some of your names, do any of you know me?

Wow, how fast the years went by. I lived in Robin Estates from 1962 thru 65. I have lots of happy memories of those days. The Beatles and the British Invasion were in full force at that time. The Beach Boys were big. Life in general was so much sweeter.

I've read some of the posts, and I see that some of my own personal friends died so tragically young. Joe Artale was my good buddy. Carol Bauer also. My two best girlfriends were Martha Rossy and Barbara Pichurko.

I remember Gidget, Sandy and Susan the 7:30 girls, Pat & John the handsome brothers, Bill Mc G, of course, Dave Watson, Lori Seitz, and many others too long to list.

But it's nice to find this site. I didn't graduate from Jackson, but from up in Sayreville. I got married young and had a daughter in 68. ...while my husband was in the Marines in Viet Nam, and she was born on his birthday. I've had three more children, who are my pride and joy. I became a nurse, and could list a million experiences I've had over the years, but I won't. I have three precious grandchildren as well.

I hope to hear from some of you who remember me from back in the day :)

Barbara

Hi Cissy! I'll admit it....I'm stumped as to who you are. Maybe John Kovacs will jump in and try to guess. How about some hints?

Hi people. I just found this site and I am dropping by to say hello. I will remain anonymous for now. It would be fun to see if anyone can determine who I am. I'll give you all a hint. I would have graduated with the class of 68, but I didn't.

Barry,

Please forgive me if I'm confusing you with somebody else, but are you the guy who was going to become a thorobred jockey? I've always loved horses -- and did even back then -- so I always thought that was cool. Did you get there?

Looking forward to the distance-drama of the Belmont Stakes!

Nial,
I was just doing some surfing, and had to laugh, I came across the site, ( Reunion) and I thought I would drop in, check it out. I said, now here is one no one has heard of, and BAM, there you were, signed up and good to go. I hope we never become outlaws, we would be the two easiest folks to find, had a good laugh.
Oscar.

Nial,
That's a cool photo of you comin' around that turn! Got it framed for wall-hanging yet?
Yes, the Miata is absolutely my favorite sports car being made today that is in the price range that normal people pay for cars. The Protege has a real eye-catching design too. My wife and I bought a 1998 626 new, with the 2L four cylinder and the 5-speed stick. It's the "laser red metallic" color with a moon roof, the sport wheels and betcha-can't-steal-me electronic kill locks. It's an absolute dog coming away from a red light, but once you hit about 2500-3000 RPM it becomes a freakin' Sunbeam Tiger. And the feds rate it best in mpg for all cars in its class too. We love it and hope to get another five years out of it. (The stereo is designed for those who prefer the low end of the audio spectrum. Yuck.)
Looking forward to the scanned photo.
Later!

You're welcome, Cathy.
Do us a favor and pass this site address on to other "old time" Jackson grads that you may be in contact with. I know the address is sort of long (and difficult to remember); as an alternate, you can go to my site (easier to remember) and click on the last link:

Hi Dave:

I¿ll send you a scan of the band photo sometime next week¿..It¿s pretty funny (and yes, it was fun).

I have looked at the new MINIs (I¿ve owned three ¿classic¿ Minis in my life)¿.we even test drove a new one not too long ago, but it has this weird automatic trans that we didn¿t like (she can¿t drive a stick)¿.so we ended up with a new Mazda Protégé (an excellent car).

We have a retro-car, of sorts. We bought a new Miata 2 years ago¿..the Miata is a retro-version of the original Lotus Elan (according to the Miata-designer).

I¿m still driving the little Brit cars (as I did in high school); here¿s me three weeks ago:

Nial,
How sad is this: playing in that band was one of the high points of my life. It was such a gas! I would absolutely love a tif or a jpg of that picture if you've got a scanner handy.
Have you seen those new Morris Minor retros yet? I saw a red one just today. Of all of the retro cars that have come out over the past few years, I think the Morris looks the coolest. The VW is a nice car, but they absolutely blew it when they failed to recognize that putting the engine in the back and making it the only compact rear-wheel drive car on the road today would've sold a million copies in a week.

Hey Dave,

I just found a picture of you playing drums in our little band (with me, Sam Woodson and Bob Barnes)...pretty funny! I talk to Sam (in S.C.) once in a while).

I'm not sure if we lost anyone in Viet Nam (I was in college), but I know we've lost people from our class. Most recent was Lloyd Black... passed away last year.

Nial,
Nice job on getting the discussion board going. I have used several others in the past and this Pliner format is neat and simple compared to most, maybe enough so that it'll even lure some of the "lurkers" out. And you're right about the ads -- bring 'em on if that's the only price I have to pay!
I imagine that not too many out there remember me. I am 'class of 68' but only was there my junior and senior years while I was living in Jackson with my father while it was his turn to suffer. And even then I cut school about two days a week on average during my final year.
Does anybody know if anybody from our class paid the ultimate price in Viet Nam?

Welcome to the Jackson (NJ) High School Class of 1968 Message Board.
We're are hoping that this message board will help all of us share information, arrange our upcoming re-union and just generally *have fun*.
This message board is funded by the annoying pop-up ads and commercial messages that are on your screen. We could upgrade (and do away with the commercials) but we would have to pay....personally, the ads don't bother me that much.
In my opinion, other "old time" Jackson grads should be welcome to post here too (let me know if you agree/disagree).
I would just ask that we AVOID subjects related to politics, religion and "spam" (such as those endless "forwarded jokes")....these subjects often lead to "flame wars" that ruin message boards.
Lets have *fun*....but lets play nicely!

Nial

Note: At the moment, I am set up as the Moderator of this message board (a requirement to create it). Once we get going, if anyone else would like to share these duties, that would be fine with me.
