Gidget,
Again, I'm flattered, but the DJ should not NEED anyone to provide him or her with a list of the songs that people who were in the Class of '68 would want to hear. If he or she does, then they're in the wrong line of work.
I might suggest that you start a topic on this board asking classmates which songs they would be disappointed not to hear, as that presumably would be a shorter list. (It might also help if you choose a DJ that is in our age group, and who sports very few body piercings.)

Wow. Back in 1968, if somebody had said to me "Dave, someday you'll be seeing a picture of your rock band on the internet," I'd have said "huh?"

Thanks for digging up the picture, scanning and posting it, Nial. Now if you'll excuse me, all of a sudden, for some reason which I cannot explain, I have an urge to go watch "Wayne's World" again.

Speaking of music.....Dave, you've got mail.

For anyone else reading this; I've sent Dave a photo of a little garage-band that he and I were in. If you'd like to see it, it's at the link below (HTML links are not allowed here, so you'll need to copy/paste or retype it in the address box). In photo, from L to R: Bob Barnes, Sam Woodson, me, Dave

Thats fantastic Wayne. Our class ended up in many diverse professions. For a small class on the whole we were very successful. I will be needing your bio as well as everyone elses for the reunion. You have my email address. Please send one when you have time.

Alice,
I was a librarian for 16 of the last 20 years (11 in a public library, five in an academic one), and we always look everything up AND quote the source, even if for some reason we just so happen to already know the answer (which in this case I did not.) As I have been a huge fan of pop and rock music since the early '60's, this Billboard book is one I just HAD to have for my personal library here at home.

Alice,
I'm flattered, but I'm also simply referring to the "Billboard Top 10 Singles Charts," a book which was published in 2001 and contains week by week charts for every week for the years 1955 through 2000. I'm sure if you tell your DJ to stick to the true hits of 1964 - 1968, or even JUST 1968, you'll get the music everybody wants to hear. I bought the book recently from Amazon.com. The cover says $39.95, but it might have cost less than that. I don't remember.

Wayne you are certainly the authority on our music. Please make me a list of the music you want to hear at the reunion and I will get it to Candy so she can give it to the DJ. Thanks. Alice

Gidget,
According to my book of "Billboard's Top 10 Singles Charts," Lady Madonna was no. 10 the week of May 11th after 8 weeks on the charts. You won't see the Beatles again until Hey Jude debuts at no. 10 the week of SEPTEMBER! 14th. The DC5's Glad All Over and Bits And Pieces were hits in 1964. The Beach Boys' Help Me Rhonda was on the charts in 1965, and the bulk of their hits were heard from 1960-1966. From 1967-1969 they had five Top40 hits, but I don't know how many of those were in the Top10.
