A Happy New Year to all...

Heck, 2004 HAS to be better than 2003 - or even 2002 for that matter. We're both still unemployed, and on top of that, we spent the time around Thanksgiving dealing with radiation for some newly-diagnosed brain tumors; along with the fun-n-games involved with losing one's COBRA along the way. Needless to say, not a whole lot of fun aroundhere.

In any event... Nial, did you happen to drive by the high school while on your recent tour thru the Old Homestead? I drove over there back at the end of April as part of an "experiment" to see how well I could drive so far from home (aka big test after recuperating from a previous brain surgery). Turned out to be Spring Break week for the schools (however, AP classes - get up off the floor now <g> - were there, as it was the final week before the exam and time had been lost due to the blizzards), but I was able to get into the high school and walk around. And one friendly janitor was nice enough to summarize many of the things that had changed (or at least those that I had noticed). A few of the classrooms were much as I left them back in the 70s, others were quite different. For example, home ec rooms (though I didn't check the old food area) were now being used for computer classes.

'Twas an interesting venture; still would love to go back when school's really in session...

Hi Nial, Thanks for the update on the Jackson Landscape. Unfortunately I did not get to visit Jackson when I was there. Hard when you depend on others to drive you around. Maybe next trip. I should be returning in Aug 2004. My nephew Brian will be getting married. Will probably fly into NY and then out of Baltimore. Lots to plan. Happy New Year to all.

I'll have to remind myself to write "2004" on all the checks now...I usually don't get used to that until about March....
I know that Alice and Charley have warm weather, but even here in the northeast, it hasn't been too bad.
I was in Jackson from Dec 26 to 29 visiting my folks, and the local weather was very mild; just a bit of rain....in fact, on the 28th, I went for a drive around Jackson with the top down, just for fun. I hadn't "explored" Jackson for quite a while.....the number of new, huge homes is sort of amazing! Some things still look the same, such as the entrance to Brookwood 1, across from the golf course. Cassville Corner hasn't changed much either. The Jackson Pharmacy (near Enno's Lake) is gone and that area is completely different.
Anyway...Best Wishes to All For 2004!
