This is a letter to all 701 and friends personal that there will be a MANDANTORY ROLL CALL for the 2011 Society of the 1ST INF Div. Reunion!!!! It will be held in Chicago and the only people excused will be BED RIDEN or ILL HEALTH Personal!!!! ALL OTHER PERSONNEL WILL BE STANDING TALL FOR OPEN RANKS INSPECTION!!!!
In Aug of 2011 there will be a Dedication ceremony to open the new wing of the 1st INF DIV Museum in Catigny IL. It will
correspond with the reunion and they will cut the tape then. The museum is really something to see for those of you that have never had the opportunity. It was a gift of land from The McCormick family,and the place is really beautiful.
For those of you that have not had the chance to come to a reunion this will be the 1 you won't want to miss. We had a reunion in Chicago in 2004 and it was the best 1 yet for 701ST!!! We stayed at the Hilton in the city and we had 3 days before and 3 days after reunion for reunion rates, which almost all of us took advantage of. We had a mini reunion inside of the div reunion!! we went out to eat as a group,museums as a group and did a lot of really stuff together.
You are all probably saying, why is he bothering us now? Well.. Since the web site has been up more than 200 members of 701st have been located and we find more every week. There a lot of you that either don't have a computer or are not comp wise so I am hoping that you people who do have a comp, will pass on to those you might know this info!
If you have money problems(who doesn't these days) and would come alone we can find you someone to buddy up with! Because WE consider all of us as FAMILY we haven't met yet. If you have contact with a member of your old unit maybe you can talk them into coming and share a room. 2 beds are not extra and in the hotel in Chicago most of the rooms have 2 bathrooms!! (at least mine did) I share a room with Ken Bertozi when we go and I got to tell you it sure helps. I hope that when 2011 comes and I walk into the cp for us that there are so many of us there that I have to force my way through to get in!!!!!! Come on guys it's 40 + yrs and were not getting any younger. Make this worth all the hard work the society and people from 701 put into these reunions pay off in attendance!!! The 16th Inf usually has the best attendance, just once it would be nice to have them announce the 701ST MAINT BATT has the most attendees!!!!!!
