Mike, were you driving the M88 when we pulled the water buffalo out of the mine field at Dian? How about when our crew lifted the 25th Cav Reg's M88 0ff of the water tank truck on the road entering Dian? Regards from an old Soldier. Hal

I was in HQ & A Co in the Automotive Maintenance Section from around Sep 66. I was good friends with Roy Broughton the Tool Room Keeper next to the automotive shop tent. I was in the last row of tents closest to the showers. The only one I remember in the tent was Ray Ballard from Florida. When the hoochs were built, I was in the first hooch with SP5 Robert Benson. Dan Difassio from Wheaton, Il and I extended our tours and when I returned from 30 day leave I was transfered to Phouc Vinn with D CO. I was in the last hooch. I was part of the initial contact team as a auto mechanic that went to Quon Loi. I'm pretty sure Sgt Sloan and Smilly were there but can't remember names. When the Company came to Quan Loi I started driving the 5ton tractor trailer until I DROS in Apr 68. Would really enjoy hearing from anyone who would remember me.

I was in Service & Evac Platoon in late 67 and halfway through 68. Part of that time I was detailed to Tech Supply to help straighten out the inventory. I worked with Sgt Klingman and was pretty good friends with Sgt Rodriguez, the short stocky platoon Sgt. there was also a jeep driver, a black guy named Dorsey. when I got there there was this guy named Honeycutt that was getting ready to ETS. That was a long time ago, the memories are getting weaker these days.

My first assignment was Quan Loi in July 68. From there back down the line eventually to DiAn. I was a 63C, wheel and track mechanic. I'd like to give a shout out to Rosey, Rick Dorn, Bowman from Indiana (he had a state flag on the wall in the hooch and we used to tape over the beginning 'In' and the last 'a' so that the flag would say 'dian'), Dreadfulwater from Oklahoma and, the list goes on. I sure did pass by a lot of guys in my 12 months. Would like to catch up to Bowman whose folks sent him a movie camera while we were in country. He was filming us playing football in the motorpool one day and on the count of three.... we all mooned the camera. A copy of that needs to be sent to funniest home videos.

I was at Di-an from August 1966 to February 1968. I was one of those FADAC repair guys (MOS 34G20), but got in country long before the computers showed up. Spent most of my time driving 5 ton tractor-trailers for Tech Supply (Capt. Jimenez was the head of Tech Supply for much of the time). Seem to recall a Sgt. Klingman and Rodriguez as well
Other drivers included Bob Daehnke, and guys named Martin Parr, Fields and Adams. First names are long forgotten.
A couple names I recall from the Electronics Maint. Platoon include Joe Bennett (he ended up in Lai Khe), Karl Larson (with whom I'm still in communication), Jerry Ford (not the president!)
Damn... that was a long time ago.

I was at Dian Hq&A Apr67-Apr68 MOS wheel&track mech. I was driver for CO Capt Sermouth and Maj Mc Manus. Cant remember alot of names. I got some pics, just got to find them and see if any are worth scanning for the site. Not real sure of time frame I gave up the drivers job and went back to wheel and track, maybe around Dec 67 or Jan 68. A tall skinny soldier from Tech supply took over for me. I do remember a Sgt Canfield who died in a bulldozer accident at Dian. Also a black Captain (cant remember name)He was in charge of shops or tech supply not sure. He occasionally was acting CO when needed.
