Hello, Men,
I'm SP5 Earl R Jones, I served as Company Clerk, 1st Inf Div, HQ&A 701st Maint Bn, DiAn, South Vietnam, from Jan 68 to Jan 69. I held my position for the entire year, during that year I served under 3 CO's, 3 XO's, and 3 1st SGT's. If you or someone you know served during that time, I would like to here from you.
3romeo (Ken) and I have shared stories, If you have a story that you would like to share about the 701st, Enlisted Club, NCO Club, Mess Hall, R & R, etc. or any thing about your experience in the unit. Please e-mail me. I am especially interested in info about Red Romeo. If you do not know what I am talking about don't feel bad about it. It was not Top Secret, but they operated under the radar so to speak.
In my own mind, I will publish something on the 701st one of these days. Any info will be treated with utmost respect and I have no intention to print any thing to harm anyone.

Thanks Willy for the nice words, Sal and I really enjoyed the CP this year in Dearborn. It seemed like ages since we had seen everyone, after our unfortunate ordeal last year. The young troops certainly made this reunion better than any others. Hope to see more guys next year in San Antonio. We're sure it's going to be bigger and better.

Willy, Thanks for the nice words about the Reunion. We loved having all the young guys in the C.P. They really made it special for us. Charlene and I are still talking about the great time we had. We hope everyone makes it here to San Antonio next year. We'll try to set up alot of fun things to do.

MIKE, THE REUNIONS ARE USUALLY MORE TO THE EAST COAST BECAUSE OF THE WWII VETS. THEY CAN'T TRAVEL, BUT NOW THAT THEY ARE GETTING TO THE POINT THAT THEY DON'T TRAVEL AT ALL I THINK WE WILL SEE MORE WEST COAST REUNIONS. NEXT REUNION IS SAN ANTONIO. THE SOCIETY FINDS THE LOCATIONS, AND IT IS REALLY HARD FOR THEM TO FIND QUALITY HOTELS THAT WILL ALLOW US TO BRING OR SERVE LIQOUR(?). THEY ALSO HAVE TO BE ABLE TO ACCOMMIDATE UP TO 800 OR SO RESERVATIONS. HOPE EVERYTHING WORKS OUT FOR YOU WE DID MISS YOU IN DEARBORN!

ANYONE THAT WAS IN THE BIG RED 1 CAN ATTEND THE REUNIONS. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU WERE IN WAR TIME OR COLD WAR TIME. TO GET INFO CONTACT THE SOCIETY OF THE 1st INF AND THEY WILL FILL YOU IN ON ANY QUESTIONS.IT IS REALLY GREAT TO COME TO THE REUNIONS WEATHER YOU WERE IN COMBAT OR NOT. WERE ALL FAMILY.

BUT WILL SEE YOU ALL NEXT REUNION I'M SURE. WOULD LIKE TO TAKE A FEW MINS. TO SAY THANK YOU TO CHARLENE DURHAM & SALLY PAUGELS FOR THE GREAT JOB THEY DID IN THE CP!!!!WE WENT FOR NOT. i was in c co. 701st from 1982-84 even though it was peace time i still feel a deep connection for the guys who served then as well as the ones still serving my prayers go out to them everyday,anyway can anybody who was in 701st attend the reunions?

The 2010 reunion will be in San Antonio, Tx. The dates are Aug.25-29, 2010 at the Crown Plaza Hotel. Hope you will be able to make that one.

You are right, Dennis. The best reunion yet. Sorry more 701st. folks couldn't make it. Charlene and I just got home tonight about 10:30 p.m. We talked about the reunion and all the fun we had all the way home.

For those who missed the reunion, you missed a GREAT ONE!!! Our CP was one of the most active of the reunion. The young active duty soldiers made this reunion one to remember. We were told by many that it was the best CP they had visited. The weather was great, the museum was fantastic and the respect for our veterans was out of this world. Hope to see more 701st at 2010 reunion in San Antonio, TX.
