Ash, identifying yourself with one thing should not make you intolerant for other??that is what we need to learn. If you are happy with what you are, you can never hate others. The biggest stumbling block is to acknowledge your limitations and constraints and learn to make best out of it.

Hey people,
basic idea of my poem"like religion" is fanaticism.Poeple who misinterpret religion and take it to extreme.

My experiance(little though)has been that, these days people concentrate little on trying to understand what their religion is and put in efforts in trying to find lacunae in other religions(whatever they may be)which leads to they glorifying their own religion and that further leads to fanaticism.

Religion, like charu said and i am sure everyone almost agrees with her,is not hatred but a set of principles to conduct life in a decent and dignified way. These principles form the basis of every and any other religion. The rules or principles neednt be followed striclty, can be and should be modified to suit the times.

And more importantly, one should not identify oneself with the religion,as that may lead to fanaticism, one should instead identify himself with what his set of prinicples are(also called conscience) and how that helps him develop spiritually and how inturn that helps people.

In a word, religion is nothing but conscience.

If you hate your faith/religion then it no longer remains your religion and if you hate some religion which other people follow then it just shows your intolerance towards its followers.
Religion is only a set of principles, which defines your path and all the paths converge at the end, provided you stick to your own path and don?t hate people who are following other paths.
I wonder from where this word 'hatred' has come up in the context of religion. Are you sure the root of haterd is religion?

I liked the way the poem was written..really very well written...however have a pretty different opinion on a few things.....

I dont think religion shouldnt be hated cos it is passive....its our expectation of religion...of what we want from it and what we want to show others of it, is very misleading and sometimes lets us down....

any takers??
