On the MenTeach.org website, a resolution about men teachers from the Minnesota AEYC is posted, reading:
Whereas, men as well as women contribute much and will continue to contribute much to the early childhood profession and,

Whereas, the low numbers of men in the field suggest Minnesota has not reached its potential in terms of actualizing the potential benefits of men as well as women early childhood teachers,

Therefore: Be it resolved that MnAEYC convene a working group of men and women to explore, develop, and recommend policies for improving the recruitment and retention of men teachers, to include the study of efforts in other states, and the study of the economics of the field as a contributing factor, to result in MnAEYC actions that shall include a position statement about the recruitment and retention of male early childhood teachers in Minnesota.

Proposed by Dan Gartnell
Approved: Saturday, November 10, 2001

I will inquire about whether CAEYC has adopted something similar. Comments?
