Greg--
Thanks for formulating a proposal designed to address at the local level some of our issues. While I originally became involved in my local affiliate four years ago as a Men in Child Care Representative (upon the recommendation and sponsorship of a community college instructor), I wasn't sure at the time how that position came to be, although I suspect that there was some recommendation or action that had been prompted by either the state or national organization. While I still don't know (that may be the subject of further research), I think that your proposal, in addition to reiterating the need for a voting membership on affiliate boards, helps define the function and purposes of that representative.

I have played with the format a bit for clarity, but also want to discuss and possibly refine some of the elements further. For the time being, let me simply submit this, and then get back to you before I go over my 2000 character limit. --Jerry

That Xaeyc shall create a men in early care and education (MECE) committee with a men in early education chair.

That the men in early education chair shall have a voting position on the Xaeyc board.

That the MECE committee shall have some level of funding from Xaeyc for the purposes of:
1. encouraging the professional development of male teachers
2. helping programs to retain male staff
3. helping programs to involve fathers and other men
4. encouraging the recruitment of men into the field
5. encouraging men in the field as presenters for workshops, as presenters for ece classes, etc
6. sending a member of Xaeyc to the men in child care annual retreat at caeyc
7. that some type of system shall be created to document the efforts of Xaeyc towards these purposes and to report these efforts to the state board (caeyc)
