FYI: ISO 4413Hydraulic Fluid Power-General Rules relating to Systems, 1998 is invoked by ASTM F-2291 Standard Practice for Design of Amusement Rides and Devices, Section 12 Cleaning and Painting states: "During external cleaning and painting of equipment, sensitive materials shall be protected from incompatible liquids (some types of paints can be considered incompatible fluids). During painting, all nameplates, data marking and areas that should not be painted (e.g. piston rods, indicator lights, etc. (including gauges) shall be covered, and the covers shall be removed afterwards." ISO 4413 also references ISO 8331, 1991 Guide to Selection, Storage, Use and Maintenance (Hoses and Hose assemblies). I also remind you that ISO 4413, Section 9.5.3 Protection Against Failure states "If the failure of a hose constitutes a whiplash hazard, the hose assembly shall be restrained or shielded. If the failure of a hose assembly constitutes a fluid ejection or fire hazard, it shall be shielded." One of the best ways to "shield" a hydraulic hose is to cover it with "spiral wrap". The spiral wrap materials can be obtained in almost any color.
I hope this information is helpful.
