Hello I decided to add in two cents worth here. As a former operator with roughly 12 seasons behind me. I find this over all lack of common sense shocking. The Rainbow and Giant Wheel accidents also noted in the news, could have been avoided just by the operator saying these two small children age 4 on the rainbow and age six on the wheel would have to skip this ride or found another family member to ride along. Their height has nothing to do with their judgment as such an age. They are unable to reason that climbing out a door or wiggling out from under a lap bar or shoulder harness could lead to injury or death. My rule is all kids under 12 should have an adult going along. They would not have been seated on my ride alone.

i think that its the parents fault 4 letting the boy on the ride ....there is a height requirement 4 the ride .....when your on the ride, it does lift u up out of your seat, but still the little boy shouldnt have been on the ride, its the parents fault ....i have rode that ride plenty of times, and when i went with my little cousin they wouldnt let her on the ride without an adult b/c she was under 48 inches ....if the boy got on he shouldve been with a parent ...and if he was with a parent, they obviously werent paying attention to the boy when he was on the ride ....and if they let him on the ride without a parent, its the person's fault that was in charge of the ride at that time!!!!

hi... i have been on the ride (over the rainbow) many many MANY times... and there is a hight requirement of 48 inches... i know b/c there is a yard stick taped when you go into the ride.. i know this b/c during the summer im there everyday! and my friend works there! could it be possible that the kid was trying to stand up or was on his knees?? but im just saying this because it does have a height requirement... all of the rides do!

Investigation Continues After A Boy Is Injured in Amusement Park Fall Friday Evening
Kathleen Volion just remembers chaos as park goers watched the young child fall to the ground, saying "Everyone just went into hysteric. I mean everyone was totally hysterical."
Park regulars tellNine newsThe Rainbow ride swings like a pendulum and goes around and around, but it doesn't go upside down. There are no height requirements for the ride, only that young children be supervised by an adult during the ride.
James Townsend has been on the ride before with his young sons. He says the seatbelts and the lap bar lock, but he says the g-force of the rainbow ride is quite strong, and parents should always be extra cautious.
Townsend says "I've been on the ride before, but i keep my arms around him. He does come out of the chair but i have to keep an arm on him."
But some park goers say there may have been another reason why a child would fall off that ride; one customer told Nine news he was on this ride last week with his son, and that not all of the seatbelts are kept in good condition.
Director of Operations Allen Myrick says it's too soon to say what caused the accident. He only hopes further investigation will find answers, not more problems. He tells Nine news both Blue Bayou and Dixie Landin always have at least one to three medics and 90 lifeguards on duty. Myrick also says both the water and amusement parks have won numerous awards for safety.
For now, The Rainbow Ride is closed until the investigation is complete. We're told that could take at least four days.
Whatever the outcome of the investigation, Kathleen says "It's not going to stop me from coming here. I love this place. I do love this place and accidents are going to happen."
