Tech (that's me)will be noise testing every car. We pass 85db 10 feet behind the car, 1000rpm below redline with no load. This is effective for almost everyone to pass the on track test. Do try to aim the pipes to the cars right side. Moist days really are harder to pass! If it starts to mist or fog part way through the day we do get a few people black flagged. Note that Devil-X's truck has series mounted mufflers, that is four(2 per bank) on his V8. It is very quiet, and very fast.

Ladies - historically LRP has had issues with noise. Noise issues are not that hard to deal with if you plan in advance. If we (Mike P. and I) could get a 650+ HP Trans Am spec car to meet noise requirements, you can too. Some things to keep in mind:

1. Mufflers do not cost horsepower if properly sized. You can design and run a LRP solution all year long with no loss in power. I think the exhaust on the T/A car was a four inch set up feeding into DynoMax clone cans. The car was quiet.

1A. @#$% rotaries run at LRP all year long and can be made quiet. (If those miserable sounding things can get to spec, anything can.)

2. Last minute solutions such as stuffing wire up the exhaust do not work for squat.

3. Solutions such as turn downs on the end of the exhaust which terminates under the center of the car and points at the ground or towards the inside of the track work very well, thank you.

4. Sound carries when it is damp. If your exhaust is marginal on a clear day you may have troubles otherwise.

5. You can test your sound solutions BEFORE you get to LRP. You can either go to Radio Shack and buy a hand held sound meter for less than $65 (the same one EMRA used for years and may still be using), or you can contact EMRA's Chief of Tech to get his "read" on the situation.

in theory its 89db. LRP will have the sound police at a few different places on the track. if you're close to the limit, translation a few db's over, they will most likely look the other way. You can also stay in a higher gear where you know they are lurking. Believe it or not, the American Iron thunder trips the meter more often than the high pitched squeel of the rice rockets. In my opinion, thunder is a much nicer sound than squeel.

Now let's try it again with correct spelling.
--------------------------------------------
If my truck can get past the sound police at LRP with 2 mufflers in series, a stock car should be able to as well. The #24 truck will be at LRP for the 41-lap sprint race.
