The PLUG can be any material. The roof skin itself must remain the stock material. We have never addressed the issue of alternate materials for replacement parts, so it is not legal at this time.

I'm assuming that an exotic materials roof swap (CF, Kevlar, etc) would be a class bump or two... right?

If you want to make a really big job of it, sure change the skin. You can then do an extra nice job on the rollcage while the skin is off. Personally I would make a Kevlar duplicate of the original and bond/rivet it in place.

Excellent. Thank you gentlemen. Time to go rip that malfunctioning piece of metal off the top of the Prelude.
And thank you, Bill for the updated contact info.

Can the roof skin be swapped for a non-sunroof one? For example, the older 2.5RS Subaru Imprezas came with sunroofs. The Subaru Impreza Ls came with no sunroof. Can the roofs be interchanged?
Thanks

Yes you can remove the sunroof and plug the hole. Any material is OK because we require removal of the glass ones. Attach it securely please, as there can be quite a lot of air pressure differential inside to outside. It is not permitted to ventilate it. Note my new email, racerwag@gmail.com.

Bill was telling one of the TT guys at Pocono that you could use just about anything to plug the hole as long as it was attached properly.
If I remember the conversation correctly he was more worried about attachment than material.

I can't seem to reach Bill G. and I don't know who else to ask, so here goes:
Is it legal in ST to replace a movable non-glass sunroof with a fixed sunroof plug? If so, are there any restrictions on materials (e.g: steel, CF, Lexan) or mounting?
