as anyone who frequents this forum will notice, a debate, hopefully brief and short lived, is blossoming on a current event topic.
the reason for this post is to point out that events have officials and they should be utilized when you have an issue.
When someone has a significant gripe about the conduct of a participant at an event Forums and Blogs are a lousy place to air opinions.
It was stated that 4 drivers have taken exception with the on track conduct of a group of drivers and if there is validity to the complatint it should be sent to the Steward(s) of the meet not public opinion.
A protest could be lodged, or even an informal complaint. the Stewards would review the situation, discuss it with flaggers and the involved parties and come to a conclusion in which everyone will have a reasonable say.
Everyone seems loathe to ask for an official opinion or stance on driving conduct and we shouldn't be. Every club has its culture and its special interpretation of what is acceptable and asking an official for clarification or action is appropriate.
Bump drafting is tolerated at one region and specifically forbidden at another. 2 wheels in the dirt for a pass may be OK at EMRA but not at VRG.
When drivers go from one club to another, and region to region the rules may read the same but are actually interpreted differently.
Using public forums to rally support for your cause is asking many uninvolved parties to take sides rather than asking the officials of an event to work to clarify positions, educate drivers, and resolve conflict.
Protests are not personal, they are part of the motorsports process. On the other hand using forums to take shots at those that you feel wronged you, is just a great way to lose friends and divide rather than unite.
We all race together and our goal is to race safely, race well, race hard and have fun. creating animosity by using forums to voice our grievances is unlikely to yield positive lasting results.
Just some thoughts to think upon.
