I really like all the proposed race and TT changes. I loved the 40 min race at LRP and look forward to that being the new format. I live in Souther VA and most of the races EMRA holds are 5-7 even 10 hour drives for me so I'm all for 2 days of racing. Racing the enduro's with Doug are the events that really attracted me to EMRA so I sure hope there's a few of those, minimum 2 hours too. Also, liked the change to more hot tows and less black flags near the end of last season.

Thanks for all your great work.

If EMRA wants to send out a questionnaire I'm more than happy to help. It's what I do for a living to pay for my racing addiction.

I would do some two day races as funds allow.
The events on TT days are a good way to introduce racing to more people.
As far as open wheel EMRA has been more than generous with races and track time for an average turn out of 2 to 3 cars.EMRA will not survive giving that much time to so few cars.

Tom, and the powers that be.

My point in refreshing the discussion is to find out IF racers want 2 day events and other changes.

so far only 3 or 4 pople voiced an opinion. this does not make it a definative conclusion. it is a shame that there is not a more active web discussion with more people but at this time there is no other way to find out about what people might want.

EMRA needs new drivers, and reaching out to ANYONE that you have an email address for might be the best option. Send a carefully crafted questionaire (sp) to determine IF people are already running with EMRA and if not, what it will take to get them to do so.
Between the responses to my inquireys, there is less than 10 entrance fees represented. you need to know from EVERYONE who ran in 2009 and need to reach out to them.

my clients will be at EMRA events when the event and date fits and we all appreciate the effort put forth to bring an event to fruition. I just hope that a more aggressive effort approach to SEEK information from drivers is made, rather than just assuming that those few who come to you are representative of the interestes of most.

To find new clients, customers, entrants (whatever you want to call them) you have to seek them out and satisfy their interests.

having an event and waiting for them to come isn't good enough any more. 10 years ago I ran all EMRA events and an occasional SCCA event. THis year I will have run with 4 different organizations before EMRA holds its first event. Lots of options to choose from for everyone, why should they get involved in changing a club when they can just pick one that suits their interests?

over and out

The board is fully aware of the racers desires for 2-day events.
You posted this on december 3rd.
I replied:
"The key factor in answering the 2 day event request is whether open wheel cars are included. If they are not included in our schedule we can do 2 days of racing & time trialing. If we have an open wheel group we cannot make the schedule work."

The answer is still the same.

Keep this in mind:
for a Time Trial Day we need 4 hours. On a typical track rental day we rent 7 hours of usable track time. We then have 3 hours to "sell" or use. On some weekends we have sold that time to open wheel racers. We still have some 3 hour slots to "sell".
We will have 2 day races.

Not every event will be 2 day races. AND on both days of racing they will be 45 minute races with practice & Qualifying.

Now that I said that OTHER clubs will be doing the same (lol)

Keep checking for updates on the race formats.
We are listening.

For tracks further from my house than LRP I favor 2 days of sprints. Trailering 3+ hours for 1 day is not worth the diesel gas in the Excursion plus the minimum stay of 1 nite in a hotel.

How many racers would opt for a 2nd day of racing if it was offered at select events?

Example would be that EMRA would host a typical sprint day (hopefully a 40 minute one) and with enough committment We could petition, buy or beg the track time on Sunday for a 2 20 minute sessions and a 20-25 minute sprint.

Before the TT guys have a cow, you need to recognize that the primary reason EMRA is looking to drop timed runs in preference to Transponders throughout the day is that EMRA needs to get more entrants in a day, and/or sell track time to cooperative organizations. The same could apply to TTers if they want 2 day events. "buy" time from the sprint days.

Asking because I know many drivers are in support of 2 day events but the board seems not to be aware of them
