HELP - TRUMA 6002 HEATING
|

On my Galaxy 25,running on gas, my Truma controls have 4 positions. The upper 2 are for heating water only. The 2 lower positions show a flame and below it a wavy water symbol. My manual says the flame is for heating only, BUT I get hot water as well, and very hot. Is this correct?.
When I contacted Truma to my surprise they said that there is some heat transfer to water when only heating is on, but mine is very hot! Truma said it is ok to run heating only (flame symbol) without water but I'm scared it may blow the system. Comments anybody? Does anybody get very hot water when only the flame for heating is selected? As my unit has been replaced previously I'm wondering if its been wired up incorrectly.

Never heat the water without checking that there is water in the tank.
Dependent on your model, you may dump all the water out of the system automatically if the temperature drops or when you disconnect the 12V power supply the drain valve opens and empties the tank.
Check you have water before heating it. Turn the tap on.

I fitted Continental Vanco 10 on my 270 and was very pleased with them. They have since brought out a Vanco 8 which rates very highly in the test I found on the internet at motorcaravanning.com/vehicles/tyre_test. hope this helps.

These Boilers should never be run without water, they are designed primarily to provide your hot water supply using mains electric or gas or both, depending on type 6000, 6002 etc. The warm air heating is provided from a heat exchanger within the boiler jacket and distributed through the ducting by 12v fan. Please do not take the risk of running the system without water, damage to the boiler will be expensive to rectify and there could well be more disasterous consequences.

in my galaxy 25mx the water heater and the space heater are two separate units ,ie:- you can have the space heater on independant to the water.dave

Hi Richard, welcome to the Pilote Owners Assoiation Message Board. I have just had a look at the controls on my 7 year old Galaxy 270 and the switch positions are for Hot water (40 or 60deg) and Heating + Hot water (60 deg). So I don't think it is advisable to run the boiler without water in it.
Hope this helps

We have just bought a Pilote 240, 7 yrs old and truma booklet explains about heating and hot water but still unsure whether we can fire up the heating on gas without any water in the system? we just want heat without the water tank being filled and wonder if this is possible.
