We had a 2001 270 for 7 years and found it a very practical motorhome. With good care and regular servicing it should serve you well. We did replace after the uphostery after 3 years and had the engine re-chipped. We also fitted a Strikeback alarm system. I think it must have had a built in imobiliser system with the ingnition key because a RED key was supplied in case of failure, but I don't know if yours is the same.
We joined the Pilote Owners Association and found them very friendly and helpful whenever problems arose.
Good luck and hope to meet up with you some time.
Regards Allan

I think the basic principles for up to four person to assume adults, seating for travel,?seat belts? RH or LH drive your choice,as many service records as is available to see if regular habitation checks have been made, ensure the vehicle is therefore totally watertight, use a damp meter to chick it out, no rust in chasis, everything works, take it for a test drive to satisfy yourself it is what you want. Is it big enough ?? Can you carry what you want ? Will it be over loaded ?
These are just a few suggestions but it is customary to have two or
three 'vans' before you get the right one. Finally go online to MMM (Motorhome Monthly and find the edition which gives excellent advice on buying your first motorhome, buy Pilote and join the owners Club they are a good bunch. Attend a local show have a realy
goodlook round and now is the time of year to get a bargin at end of season

I have never owned a motorhome but would like your advice on buying one. I have been looking at Pilotes and they seem better value than some types. What would I expect to buy for around £4K to £6k(max) please, mileage, year, and spec etc? I have seen a 1988 petrol 16ft. with nearly 70K miles in good order for £5.7k is this about right? I am newly retired and likely to use the motorhome for me only but may occasionally lend it to family with max 2 adults +2 small kids. I would appreciate anyone's advice please.
