I purchased a secondhand Galaxy 88 tdi Peugeot 2.8 tdi in May of this year and I am concerned about the high running temperature of the engine recorded on the gauge as in an ambient of between 23 and 28C it sometimes reaches just short of the red sector having pulled
up an incline of say 1 in 20 over a 1/4 to 1/2 mile distance. It
then takes about fifteen minutes of level running or downhill to go
back to what appears to be normal which is just over 80C.
The radiator water and engine oil level is ok and the vehicle is by no means overloaded. I have contacted the garage that sold me the vehicle who had it checked and at my request have given me a letter to say that every thing is ok. I have also spoken to Peugeot who are a little reluctant to tell me what the normal running temperature should be. I have also contacted a specialist that made a repair to the intercooler two years ago who were helpful telling me that they thought the running temerature mentioned above was too high and thought that that there was a fault with the wiring to the gauge on that year of Peugeot which were recalled for a minor modification. Any help, informtion or advice would be appreciated to put my mind at rest

your correct, the white plug is the drain tap,it should have a cord or wire attached to it but can be very tight if it hasnt been taken out for a while.if you are draining down for the winter dont forget the drain tap on the water heater, this at the bottom,on the floor of the cupboard to the right of the heater(you need to pull it vertical to drain the unit)good luck.dave

HI, sorry am a newbie and have a 1993 22mx but cannot work out how to drain the tank from under the back seat. I have looked in the tank and there does appear to be a white plug but I cannot seem to budge it or turn it. Am sure the problem has an easy solution but I cannot see it at present. Any help much appreciated.

thankyou
David
