I have a 1994 Peugeot based A class Pilote Motorhome. The van is in really good condition, but the front seats are falling apart! The cloth has obviously been in the sun too long. Is there anywhere I can purchase fitted seat covers? (Isle of Man) Colin

RE: Flat battery

Regarding the flat battery. A separate charger will charge more than the mh charger. For a battery to go flat so soon would point to a faulty cell or a light or possibly the radio (most turn off in 60mins or less) being left on. Alarms do req some power but even so 3 weeks is to premature.
Regarding the heating power should be taken from the leisure battery. On starting the engine via relays the heater will know the engine is running and so the isolation valve can be armed (so to speak)Would be handy to know the voltage ie 14.5v would be a decent battery.

Flat battery

I tried to start my 6 months old Pilote P670TP on Boxing day only to find the battery was flat ,that is the starting battery not the liesure one which was fine. Nothing had been left switched on and the van had only been standind for about3 weeks. I connected to the mains via the hookup lead and after a couple of hours the van started. The problem is now no matter how long I leave the van hooked up the battery never shows as being fully charged. However using a separate charger connected directly to the battery a full charge can be achieved. On this model the Truma combi heater can be used when the van is on the move and is fitted with a special gas shut off valve in the event of an accident. Therefore am I correct in thinking that the heating system works from the engine battery and not the liesure battery in the back. Waiting for the dealer to open up after the long Chrismas break is not an option as I leave for Spain on the 3rd January. Any ideas ???
