You can stop overnight on the front overlooking the harbour in the parking meter bays if you are booked on a ferry. This is recognised but you must move off before the parking meter periods become active which I think is 8am. Used it many times.

black horse farm cc club site near folkestone has overnight stop facilities for the very reason you want

we were booked on 5.05am ferry so we called in at Tesco at the top of the hill just outside Dover did a bit of shopping then spoke to one of the management type guys and asked if we could have a short kip in the car park.
I was told that he couldn,t see a problem with that so we pulled over to the edge out of the way and noticed a couple of oher vans

I am trying to locate a site for an overnight stop close to Dover available for a single night at the August bank holiday. The usual Camping and Caravanning Club Club sites along with the Keats Farm Site all require bookings for multiple nights. Can anyone recommend a possible site.
