Orbost Regional Health is leading a drive to promote a regional air service based on the premise that this will assist in building a medical infrastructure in the future. It is clear that some regional centres have a strong medical network built around a regional air service. Enabling both a "fly in fly out" medical service, this would also increase the attractiveness of the region to professionals who wish to have easy access to Melbourne or international flights. Local organisations would benefit from reducing cost and downtime of having staff in Melbourne.
A regional air service has been tried from Traralgon but a Traralgon - Canberra flight may not be a true test of our need for business travel into Melbourne. Funding for a feasibility study is being sought but in the meantime, I am seeking your support for this endeavour. For this to be possible, many organisations/businesses would need to be committed to air travel as a way life or business option and I am seeking your commitment in principle to support this process.
If you are interested in indicating your support, please write to me: Jill Hutchison, CEO, Orbost Regional Health, PO Box 238, Orbost 3888
