My son had one as well and while they say thet will heal themselves by age 4, my son's didn't heal until he was 5. My pediatrician didn't push surgery and took a more conservative "wait and see" approach and I'm glad she did b/c sure enough the issue resolved itself. I'd suggest that if your daughter is not having any pain or experienceing limitations in activity that you hold off, even until age 6, to see if it does self-heal.

My daughter was born with an umbilical hernia, and many cases heal within the first year, but my daughter's has not. She's turning 4 next month, and I'm told that surgery is inevitable. Is anyone familiar with this and/or has had their child operated on for this?
