For the past several years I have benn aquiring information on both Union and Confederate veterans buried in Union County. I have also photographed most of these deceased veterans headstones. Your John Grizzel's grave is not marked withe the fact that he was in the confederate aervice. Someday soon I will pass all the information that I have on those confederate's buried in Union Countu over to the Sons of Confederate Veterans chapter in Knoxville so that these graves might be marked. John H, Grizzel and his wife Martha "Rasnake" Grizzel are both buried in th Braden Cemetery that is located on Hickory Valley Road east of Highway 33. John obtained a Confederate pension, #S13252 from the State of Tennessee. After he passed away his wife received a widows pension, #W5196. According to his pension application he served as a Private in the 2nd Kentucky Cavlary and at some time he also served in Kains Light Artillery. Copies of both of these pensions are on microfilm at the state archive and at the library at the East Tennessee Historical Society.

I am trying to locate the graves of John and Martha Grizzle. He died June 5, 1913 and she passed away Feb. 9, 1920. He was a Civil War veteran serving with the 21st Virginia Cavalry. Any help will be appreciated.
