It is official, I just received word from the Athletic Director at Dawson Community College, Ms. Ayer's, that the coaching staff of the Lady Buccaneer's softball team WILL be represented at our Showcase Tournament, August 22 - 23. We will now have representatives from every Montana College with a fastpitch softball program at our tournament. In addition, I have listened to the phone calls and messages that I have received about our tournament, and I will be inviting coaches from out of state to our event as well. I will update this website as additional coaches commit to attending. If Anyone has any contact information for an out-of-state collegiate softball team that would help me in this regard, please e-mail it to me at bossgobbler9@bresnan.net.

Have you folks been tapping my phones? Ask and thou shall recieve!!

The Helena Umpires Association is going to host the "Rocky Mountain Showcase Fastpitch Tournament" August 22 & 23, in Helena. The team entry fee will be $300 for 5 guaranteed games. A 3-game round robin for seeding, followed by a double elimination tournament bracket. I will be sending out letters to all of the high schools in Montana who have a fastpitch softball program, inviting them to participate. Our tournament will be an 18U tournament, but girls ages 16 and up may be used to complete a team if necessary.

The following "college coaches" have agreed to participate in our tournament and to visit with the girls and their parents who are interested in playing college softball: The University of Great Falls; Montana State University - Billings; Montana State University - Bozeman (Club Team); and Montana Tech University of Montana - Butte (Club Team). Dawson Community College has also been invited to participate, but as of this date, they have not responded to my invitation. Incentives are being offered and accepted to encourage the college coaches to attend.

But please, since this will be our first attempt at this type of tournament, help us get the word out as far and wide as you can to help us make this tournament a success for those Montana girls who have aspirations of playing softball at the college level. I can be reached at 406-431-5679 or by e-mail at bossgobbler9@bresnan.net if you would like to talk about our tournament or to get yourselves on our mailing list.

I think a college recruiting seminar put on by the coaches from MSU-Billings, University of Great Falls, and Dawson Community College would be very beneficial and add to the profile of the sport in the state.

My only issue is making it centeralized for the majority of potential players, coaches, and parents to attend. Helena is a natural fit but for the folks from Dawson that is a haul.

An idea may be to work with Ed Kriskovich the State JO commisioner and maybe host a Seminar on the Thursday Night before the State JO tournament starts in Bozeman in July.

I personally am interested in how we can get some of our girls from Havre recruited. This coming year Havre has a few talented gals who are seniors and would love to continue playing softball. I also have a 8th grade daughter who loves playing softball. She does a great job pitching, but can also play anywhere she is put. When is a good time to start looking at schools for her. She is a very determined child and has a dream of getting a scholarship playing softball

I think a recruiting seminar would be a great idea!! This would give all of us (myself as a parent, coach and board member) some insight in to what the processes that are involved in recruiting.
Thanks,
