This post is meant to update everyone on the status of the “Helena Umpires Associations", Rocky Mountain Showcase Fast Pitch Softball Tournament. This tournament was to be held August 22 & 23, 2009. But as of today, we have been unable to attract a sufficient amount of interest to make this event worthwhile for everyone to travel to Helena this year. As a result, we have elected to "Reschedule" this tournament to the weekend after Montana's 2010 ASA State JO Fast Pitch Tournament.
Rescheduling this event to 2010 will create several positive benefits for this tournament and for its participants. First, there will be no lag time between the end of Montana's ASA JO Fast Pitch Softball season and our event. Hopefully, this will mean that Montana's best 16U and up softball teams will still be together as a team and at the top of their game following the state tournament, for the college coaches to see and to evaluate. Second, rescheduling to that specific weekend will prevent this event from conflicting with the onset of practices for the Fall high school sports, i.e., volleyball and soccer, and, it will allow us more time to line up even more college coaches (requested) who would be willing to attend thereby opening up even more collegiate opportunities for the girls.
I sincerely hope that everyone will understand our decision, that you will mark your calendars for our rescheduled event, and that you will plan to attend our event again next July 17 & 18, 2010; at the Batch Fields in Helena. I will update this website periodically as teams register for our 2010 event so that you may know in advance as much as possible about the teams and college coaches who will be participating in our tournament.
If anyone has any ideas that would help make this event even more successful, please do not hesitate to let us know. We would also like you all to send us the name of any college and their coach that you would like us to invite to this event. We will consider whatever idea you might have for us and for this event. In the interim, please help us get the word out about our event over the next several months, so that everyone is aware of the opportunity that this event will provide the girls who desire to play softball at the college level.
