does anyone have a copy of the fight song. The band no longer plays it at the games. they say they lost the music. It is ashame that they are letting our hertiage be lost.I want to start a letter writing to try to get the school to relive that the hertiage we remember should be share with the students today. If anyone can help please drop me a line. if you agree write a letter to school and tell them bring back our hertiage. by the way if paul reads this and has a copy of the music and words let me know. I know of 2 - Pat Vogt and Bill Rogove and Candy DeFalcon and John Fredricks. I don´t know if Maryann Enkoff and Gordon Paris were sweethearts back then, but I know they were married in 1971 when I visited my parents and they are still married today.

ok, new trivia, lets see who remembers: What students in high school went on to marry their high-school sweethearts, and out of those, how many are still married today, I can think of at least two.
Always,
Oscar.

When I first posted this question, I noted that three alums immediately came to my own mind. Walt Morrison quickly posted two of them.

For those who might still be interested... The third alum was Calvin Chase of the Class of 66, aka the first Assistant Band Director. From what I read in local papers years later, he later served at Franklin Township High School, then Columbia High School in South Orange/Maplewood. (It's amazing the poor guy stayed at Jackson as long as he did, given the hazing of sorts we dished out.)

Speaking of the band... Anyone watch the segment on this morning's "Today Show" where Matt Lauer interviewed Conan O'Brien on the late night show's 10th Anniversary? A marching band "invaded" in the middle of the interview, later revealed as "The Jackson Memorial High School Band, which was 10 seconds late with their cue." Sorry, I didn't tape it.

Let's say the uniforms were much different from the old red blazers and straw hats. :) BTW, I still have my straw hat - we were allowed to keep them when we changed uniforms in the fall of 1972.

I thonk Elaine Rutkowski (67) and my alma mater TSC '71 also came back to teach in Jackson. I taught in Hightstown before we moved to Vermont. Oh yes Elaine also was from Cassville. She lived almost across the street from the Cassville Fire station, next to Kel's snack bar

For the record, Peterson's Sunset Cabin has been closed for at least 15 years, sad to say.

My class' 5-year reunion was held at the Kings Grant Inn. Also my sister's weddng, in 1988 or thereabouts.

Walt, think you struck oil, the Kings Grant Inn was the farewell, and the prom was at the school, some how the Kings Grant inn was the venue Jackson engaged for most of their social functions, and the Mouring, in Point was also a popular place. Kathy Russell, her sister was a P.E teacher in Jackson, her dad Charlie Russell was my bus driver for a while, they didn't live far from me.

I am remembering now that it was in Lakewood a single story building but for the life of me I cannot remember the name. It was not far from Lake Carasaljo and it was like a long log cabin type of building. It was also a very popular resturant but after 35 yrs I just cannot remember what it was called. Help me out Helene.

The 68 Senior Prom was a combined Jr Sr prom with the class of 69. It was held in the gym. The senior farewell was held in a resturant on rt 9 in either Lakewood or Toms River. But I think it was Toms River.

Just a guess... After all, I was only in 7th grade at the time. :)

However, I was in the band; and I seem to recall the gym being decorated for a prom when we returned from the Loyalty Day parade in Toms River one Saturday in late April.

Now, are you referring to THE prom - or the Senior Farewell? Two different events.

For the record, I didn't attend my prom, but my first date was to the Senior Farewell, held a few nights before graduation.

Hey, I have one, Elaine Geminuani Simpson, been teaching in Jackson for 26 years, and her husband as well. She was a 70's grad with me, in fact, just wrote to her recently and she told me that Jackson High, a few years back was rated number one in the state scholastically and has repeated, how neat is that. How about any of the Acevedo's I am not sure if they teach, but some how believe they are connected in some capacity.
Does any one remember Tinker, and what was his association with Jackson?
Trivia: Where was the 68 grad prom celebrated?

I'm impressed, Walt - you got two of the three I was thinking of! :)

The gym teacher is Leslie Adams, class of '71.

...and Evelyn Barcello (but at the middle-school, I think).
One of the guys I graduated from college with, taught at Jackson for a while (Dave Brown), but he wasn't a Jackson alum and I know he wasn't there very long.

Well, since it's been quiet here lately, perhaps it's time for me to post THE trivia question I've been meaning (threatening) to post for so long... :)

Oscar, you'll be particularly amused - or shocked - to find out that I don't have a complete answer to this one! :)

The question/challenge: Name the Jackson High alumni who have returned to teach at our alma mater. (OK, some have probably come back and gone elsewhere by now, but who knows?)

I can think of three, but I'm sure there are at least several more. Anyone want to help compile the list???
