Yeah, it was nice of her to offer, but I just don't have any weekends free. Looking at my calendar right now and my next seven weekends are committed. I need to retire so at least I'll have some free time during the week.LOL
I'm heading out on a trip of almost 350 miles this morning (to a car race at Watkins Glen). Light snow predicted. Ugh.

I do not always read all the comments, but when Eddie Langbine was mentioned as Mgr. of Shoprite in Lakewood brought back old memories. He was my brothers friend and my brother is 70 now. Boy are we getting old.

Debbie:
If you read the first message on this list (at the bottom), you'll see that Pat Wood has invited people for a mini-reunion tentatively scheduled on 9/11/09.
She has asked people to e-mail her if they are interested in attending. Her e-mail is:

[email protected]

Unfortunately, I have almost no weekends free this time of year myself.

Hans had to have been one of the best bosses I ever worked for--
Always gave you an even break Lakewood Shop Rite lost a good one
when he was replaced and think they knew it, because he was brought
back after I quit-- Manager who took his place told me I could not
get off work for out 1967 Senior Play dress rehearsal-so I quit
"Rally 'Round the Flag" bring back memories ?? Grady Metcalf here
and everything "ginchie" I was not quite as 'cool' as the Fonz

Heinrich:

I truly don't know anything about Hans L. other than the fact that he was my boss over 40 years ago. He was a nice man, quite tall and trim. Very serious but a good person. I have an aunt who worked with him (she 93 now). I may see her sometime soon and I will ask if she knows anything.

Just by chance, I came across your statement that Hans Lowenberg was the "great boss". Is this Hans the person who was born Sept 26, 1914 in Germany? I am working at a biographical sketch on this Hans L. as a student at the same school (from 1925 - 1929) I attended 30 years later. In 1951 he settled in New Jersey where he went from his Kibbutz in Israel. He had left Germany in 1934.
I would be happy to learn something about "my" Hans Lowenberg in the USA if he is also "your" H.L.
Sincerely, Heinrich Nuhn (Larchenweg 2, 36199 Rotenburg, Germany, Tel. 0049-66232482)

Pat, I graduated in 1970. I would love to see or talk to our old alum. Do you know a Philomena Strout? She was a hot ticket. Or Joseph Butler? He was in the drama club.

Remember quite a few of the guys who were Shop Rite folk-- you
Steve Evans, etc.

I started as a cart and bag boy until "BIG W" took some of the employees-when I went to work in Produce Dept. Also used me after
hours because I was old enough to work past 10 PM on a school night

Amazing what all that job payed for

Pat:
Thanks for posting this! Hope it is a great success. As the date gets closer, I will e-mail you and let you know if I will be in the area......hope so.

Churchwell: I worked in Lakewood Shop-Rite too. From '66 to '68. With Candy DeFalcon Fredericks and her husband John Fredericks and others. I think Eddie Langbine was Asst. Manager and Hans Lowenberg was the big bosss. My Aunt Lil was the bakery manager there for years. She's 93 now and still lives behind Shop Rite. Still drives, still looks great.....hope I get her genetics.

Sorry to hear about Wayne always nice to me and a "cool" guy-- As perhaps the oldest member from the class of '67 it makes me feel even older then I am--- I am always wondering how the class of '67 survived Vietnam -- To bad the reunion wasn't for our 42nd
anniversery on 6/15/09 I will be in Jersey to attendt my nieces wedding that weekend--

Tell George I said hello-- His parents store used to get most of the money I made at Shop Rite

To those of you who remember me, hello. I am Pat Smith Wood and was married for 35 years to Wayne Wood, class of 67. Unfortunately, Wayne passed away in 2003. George Glory, also class of 67 is my brother-in-law and is married to my sister Clara.

Several of us from the classes of 68, 69 and 70 got together last year for a "Mini reunion" in Florida and we had a blast. We are planning another this year on the weekend of 9/11/09 in Jackson. Anyone interested in attending, please email me.
